Your all looking for some random occourence, I'm not saying there isn't some very hard to figure out scientific principle but in the end its more likely a random occourence, then some master plan of god or something else.

What is their target audience with the IPhone, the people that but $600 phones are 99% corporate users. The high end phone market which means phone $400 or above is less than 1% of phone users. So I agree to what the MS guy said, which is basically,"what average phone user will buy this thing?" Most people don't spend more than $200 on a phone, I just did but it was a blackberry, otherwise I was considering a $350 model, because it had windows mobile on it and office mobile. Thats because I run a company and benefit from those kinds of apps. Alot of people buy moble phones out of necessity, and go for the free ones with the contracts, I doubt any parent will buy their kid a phone that costs as much as a P$3.

Face facts guys, windows is the domanant OS now so all hardware manufactuers make sure that what ever they make supports it. Thats what they put most of their time, effort, and investment into. If what ever they make just happens to work with linux then they say, "Hey that's great, let's put out a driver or what ever, and if we sell a few more then super." Any company that only made hardware for linux, would probably go out of business quickly, because the damand for it just isn't there, if there is one, then I don't think I've heard of it.

No charity can not excuse criminality, but all of you MS bashers need to lay off. If MS fired everyone tomorrow and hired entirely new staff, would any of you stop compaining? If you want to ues Linux, of SUN, or make your own OS from scratch that fine, but I've heard enough of MS is bad for what ever reason, besides most of the stuff they did that was criminal was back in the mid 90's and almost none of it is relevant to anything they do today. So move on, get over it and go back to wacking it to images of the iphone or something.

Ok, yea I said it, but think about it, why would anyone spend 4 years in high school when they know they aren't gonna go to get any other higher form of education. When they can go drop out after like 2 and acutally make some money at some job, even if it is 7 bucks an hour, kids are getting stupider. Schools teach you stuff you'll need to know how to do when you go to your next school, like tell me after high school how many of you have writter a 5 paragraph essay? But, I bet if you look at the figures more closely, you'll see that its more girls dropping out than guys, usually because of pregnancy, and they figure then won't need a diploma, that they'll just marry some guy that will take care of them for the rest of their lives. There are alot of reasons probably, but if the government didn't support these people with welfare, then I doubt we'd even see a 1% drop out rate.

Seriously its not like people have millions of dollars to go and buy every video game thing for themselves or their kids, like it or not $ony is gonna take a big hit this time around with everyone. The PS2 and PS1 sold because they were what like 300 at first and now are barely over 150, which is relativly cheap, but unless they live in Beverly Hills or something, I doubt most kids see a PS3 under the christmas tree this year or even next, untly $ony decides to take a huge hit, which would probably bankrupt them and drop it the the same price as the Xbox360. 11. BLUE-RAY is the next UMD on Why Sony is Ready to Self Destruct · · Score: 0

Given sony's history on media, you'd think they would quit while they weren't ahead, lets see every format they came out with bombed miserably. Betamax Minidisk OpenMD memory sticks UMD I have to give them credit on the UMD, they really tried with that one, then even sent out the specs to the ISO to make it a standard, there were also quite a few studio's on board that the beginging too. Sony makes great stuff, but everyting they have made since the old walkman has really been nitch market stuff, and thats what they are good at, not mainstream products. The PS1, was a good system, and got them into the market, but it wasn't one of those things that eyeryone in the world had to have, the PS2 was a nitch item because it came out as a cheap DVD player when DVD players were really expensive but starting to get more and more popular. The PSP, well that was hot for like two months after it came out, now you can barely give the things away, Sony tried to claim it as this multifunction device against the DS, but it couldn't really do any one thing right, playing a game the controls suck, and if you want to watch a movie an ipod is better. When everyone wanted to use the thing as a web browser, sony tried as much as they could to cripple that function, were as the DS was and always only claimed to be a good gameing system. Sony should just quit trying to develop new tech and just refine current stuff and try to mass market it, like it did with the walkman and the portable cd players, which is what really made them all their money.

  13. Patents on Public Patents? · · Score: 0, Troll

It's funny, the reason to patent someting is pretty much the exact opposite of what you people want to use it for. Patents are for when a person or company spends their time and/or money to design and build something that has NEVER been made before, that they keep their IP, so that some one else doesn't profit from their work. All of the stuff you OSS guys are talking about, shareing knowleage and everything, is the exact opposite. I hate to say this but some of you guys sound like a bunch of hippies, and that doesn't do any good for anyone. If your really worried about what you are working on and want it to becme public domain very cheaply, stick a copy of everythig into an envelope and mail it to your self, that way if a company tries to claim if for their own sue them and pull out the postmarked envelope as evidence and bam, thats all the proof any judge will need. OSS is great but it will never be main stream, it will always be on the fringes of it, when you can make a piece of software that even an 80 year old grandmother that can only types with 2 fingers, then maybe you have a chance, but you still need good marketing. Then again OSS people don't really want everyone to use the same software as them, but who would want to use the same software as your grand mother?
