The only idea I would be at least interested to see is maybe a Romulan based show. As far as major races, they are one of the few that have not actually been explored extensively. You could still have the flavor of ST with meetings with Starfleet and all that but the other side of the story. Of course it doesn't have to be Romulan. Just any other storyline. How many ways can we depict how wonderfully perfect the Human race is (/sarcasm off)
Of course, a project making money is the main goal of any company. If the show makes money, they put more money back into it, which brings more people and/or creativity to the project.
I have lived in 3 different areas of the country since Enterprise started. Unless I had Dish service, I could not watch Enterprise in any of those areas. Enterprise plays on a crappy network and is just not picked up by a huge number of markets. Well, maybe I'm over simplifying this, but if you have a show and you put it on a piece of crap network that nobody wants to air, numbers will suck in comparison, regardless of the history.
It seems like they are trying to make a few shows carry this network, then when these shows don't put the network in every home, they cancel the shows.
The first seasons of DS9, I thought were some of the worst of all the series. (Just an opionion mind you.) But it was on a network picked up all over the place and was able to fight through the beginning years to find it's storyline. Of course it took big competition and ideas from other sci-fi to inspire it. Or maybe it was just nice having an overactor as the guy in charge again. Ben's only way to act other than sitting and staring at a wall was to hyperventilate. I'm scared...hyperventilate. I'm ANGRY...hyperventilate. I love you son...hyperventilate. I don't know why his character didn't pass out on a regular basis.
While I think Enterprise is the weakest of all the Trek series, I think it could have great potential. Of course it won't get the chance where they are now.
My point of this post is just to say, how can they expect a show to have the huge numbers of the previous Trek's if they are in only a portion of the markets of the predecessors.
The beginning of this show has sparked the same exact discussion as every other Trek has. But eventually the show finds itself and then pulls it's fans. Enterprise will never have that opportunity, not because everyone hates it, but more that everyone is not being given the chance to watch and hate it.
While a certain level of technical expertise is helpful, sometimes too much knowledge of something you don't fully understand makes for a horrible manager/leader. A good leader can lead anyone to any goal no matter his competency of the project.
"Surrounds his/herself with solid advisors within the company to indicate what is and is not possible " - I completely agree. Not meaning to reference any past or present presidents of the US, but an incompetent pres. can surround himself/herself (for the PC's) with the right people and excel. That's part of being a leader in the first place.
As fast as technology changes, it's not easy for a manager to stay on top of it all and also give attention to other needs of his team. I would much rather work for a non technical leader, than one spouting 6 month old technology to me.
Since I have someone's attention that is reading this, my request to anyone aspiring to be a manager, or already is but wants to be a better one...STOP USING BUZZWORDS. If I hear SYNERGY one more time, I might just have to puke.
I say terraform it and send all the treehuggin' hypocrits to Mars and let them start the "perfect world".
Leave good ole plastic using, cancer-causing item-of-the-week creating, too lazy for recycling, forest destroying, SUPER-SUV driving, cigarette smoking, beer-bong chugging, generally too lazy to do anything but web surfing earth to us....er me!!!
I keep coming back and reading the comments on this one. Some are kind of interesting. Every time I read something on it, I can't help but have the desire for a huge build up with an agonizing roar of "AAAWWWW!!!!" as it misses the rock by a 100 meters or so.
Not that I want to see the mission fail, but I rarely complain when things like this do. It's just kind of funny.
I don't agree with alot of what goes on in this country, but bashing America because Americans didn't invent all these things or for whatever reason is kinda silly.
All non-Americans jump on the bandwagon and point out all these silly, worthless bits of information. They love to bash our politicians, like every country in the world hasn't had it's share of f-tard leaders. Your comments are so old and played out. As far as countries coming in and owning companies or whatever, that's what America does. That's what it has always done, and that's what it will always do. People act like this is a new thing.
The fact of the matter is...despite all these things you bash America for, is is still the big boy on the block. Should it be? I don't know. Perhaps not. But it is. Try to argue that point. Have facts, don't just spout off gibberish. If you can, I salute you and bow to your wisdom.
They say that a chain is as strong as it's weakest link, so I guess America's weakest inbread link is still stronger than the rest of the world? I don't believe this but am simply illustrating a point to your comments above.
I'm not WOOHOO AMERICA, or bash the rest of the world. I just think it's silly for people from other countries to sit and bash bash bash when their own history is full of f-tardism.

Hehe I like that better than the BSOD. OFFS. LoL
OK Now I want to see the MS picture changed from Gates-Borg, to Gates-Borg head on a little Monty Python knight body on a shetlin pony with lance.

I don't think the US minds Japan getting a foothold on the moon first. US will just name the next Shuttle, 'Enola Gay 2' and pay a little visit.
As long as rerun's of Kevin Sorbo fighting aliens with a super powered dildo in Andromeda are replaced with something, I'll be happy.
