I've upgraded to 3.1 and tethering still works on my iPhone. Wished the service was with Verizon. Maybe one day. Fact of the matter is there will ALWAYS be something about your carrier you don't like. AT&T has spotty coverage. Verizon has better. Verizon gimps their phones in a number of ways. I used to be able to tether through my Verizon Blackberry, but last time I tried that I got a web page saying I needed to buy another data plan. They all suck in different ways, it's ust a matter of finding the one that bothers you the least.
Anyone has has been on a bus AND a plane will have to admit there is a difference between the types of people who use those two methods of transportation. I can drive by the bus depot in town and tell you that.
That issue aside, though, sure there is always a chance people will sit idly by. I think the two circumstances are different though. On the bus, the threat was against the one person being stabbed. The "logic" is that if I don't screw with that guy holding the knife, he won't screw with me. If someone hijacks your plane, somewhere in the back of your mind you know you'll die along with everyone else on that plane if someone doesn't do something.
I think the whole notion that terrorists will even try to hijack a plane again is absurd. Even if they get on board and were strapped with explosives, I think people on board would still act. They might blow up, or they might get to kick the shit out of a terrorist. Either way, I don't think we will have a repeat of 9/11.
No, the next act of terror would be a car bomb or something similar. If the terrorists really want to strike fear into the heart of Americans, they would send a dozen of their people with machine guns into a shopping mall and cut loose. It's low tech and a lot easier to do than hijacking a plane.
What they don't seem to understand is that I neither need or want their damn "protection". The fact is that if someone is intent on doing these bad things, nothing is going to stop them. Certain people will continue to do bad things, no matter how many laws or regulations our beloved government puts into place. These people are criminals, and by definition criminals don't obey the laws. What makes anyone think that by punishing and restricting the masses that the bad few will stop being bad?
The guy who made the Apprentice rip-off is based out of Knoxville, TN and works for the local WB affiliate there. I've been waiting for this to come out for some time, but I was bitterly disappointed. Personally, I have to agree. I think it sucked. I've seen much better and funnier.
If Linux or MAC were the dominant desktop, then people would be asking the same question about them. If you're the biggest target out there, then you're easier to hit. Think about it from the standpoint of the virus and worm writers. Why create a virus that's only going to affect 1% or 2% of the computers out there?
Couple that with the ignorance of most people who own a computer and you have a veritable petri dish for viruses to exist and spread.

I spent the last couple of minutes trying to come up with a concise way to put it, but you beat me to the punch.

Keep him off SciFi? As if that channel could get any worse.
