Bah. According to my experience, schools and other organisations only get new OS's with new hardware. Otherwise, looks promising if you have an old comp lieing around, and want to give it new life.
free? if you ask Dell, they have to, and do add a $100 charge to your comp, to pay for the 'free' copy. but, If you shop around, there is literally dozens of linux OS's out there that only cost you a bit of bandwidth to download. and for the '1,0000,0000 times more softwares', thats because 99% of those products are REDUNDENT! which would you rather have, paying outrageous amounts for software that doesn't work, and haveing hundreds of titles for one niche, or 2 or 3 free, community supported softwares [sic] that work? and I'm not even going to touch what you 'always tell them', and how happy mac OS X is.
which part? the project? how usable it is? the Ipod itself? for me, ipod's are overhyped. If you want a good hard drive player compatable with linux, I recommend the iriver Ihp-100 series, or if you would like a color screen, Ihp-300 series. just plug them into your usb slot, and they appear as a new drive!
also consider that with something like this in place, some (many?) companies will move there, and the fact that this is one of the largest countrys in the world, population-wise
pirates are theives who steal software, and sell it to the masses, not people who give away programs they have no right too. there's also the subject of abandonware.
