I think some of the industry actions have less to do with controlling consumers and more to do with controlling artists.
If they can limit the distribution and marketing (which is the bulk of what a major player music corp does) options an artist has, then you increase both your control over the artists and the amount you can extract from them in contracts. This is especially important to the music corps. where it comes to areas opened up by newer technology which favor cutting out the middleman and the major players have a track record of complete ineptness.

It doesn't seem so harsh at this angle and the scientologist is the one who starts with the voice raising. Sweeney just takes it to the next level. Obviously out of hand for a journalist, but quite satisfying to see.
The one characteristic that I've noticed is consistent across scientologist interviews I've seen is that they all have a creepy boneheadedness when it comes to answering any question, no matter how innocuous it may be. It's as if every moment in life has to be a confirmation of their beliefs.
You say something bad about Muslims, Islam, or their holy crook Muhammad, then they go bananas with their nukes. I don't recall the Pakistanis using their nukes.
If you want to see a similar substance in action, just mix cornstarch and water together in a bowl.
It handles like a liquid if you move your finger through it slowly, but if you punch it it will act like a solid.
Permanent, easy to read pregnancy tests in every toilet. Ok, maybe womens' washrooms only.
When a women sees the "U R Preggers" in the toilet water, she has the option to purchase a morning after pill from the dispenser built into the tank.
The toilets could also upload the bowl results through the tubes, although the internets might get blocked by all that tp.
It may not sit well ethically with some people or be the best counter, but it IS a valid argument. People/the economy can be better off with an illegal activity. Specifically, the claim that is being focused on is;
real harm to the economy
rather than the "lost sales" aspect.
It isn't suprising that the highest piracy rates(per comp. rather than per cap.) are in the poorest countries... and it wouldn't be suprising if the poor stealing from the rich would result in a (world)economy wide productivity boost, since the poor have a much higher productivity increase potential. I think the productivity change from a underemployed/unemployed poor person to working poor person is much larger than that from a well off developed world worker to an even better off worker.
It also helps smooth out the investment cycle, where you don't get the massive wasted infusions of cash that just get funnelled into a few pockets because economic friction doesn't allow for sound capital mobilization/development over such a short timespan. Sure, Ferrari manufacturing(were else would the uber rich spend that cash?) might suffer a hit, but other sectors will nicely compensate.
The fun thing about economics is that you can make an argument from almost any side of a debate, with ethics being almost irrelevant. The 'establishment' (for want of a less hippiesque word) has been doing it for a few centuries, and I say it's high time everyone else get in on the act.
Oh, did the BSA substitute "the economy" for "the economic sector we represent"? Naaaah.

This is also tied to the large increases in industrial style farming in Brazil. There were a few news segments on CBC last year about the large exodus of Canadian farmers to Brazil.
The costs of farming are so low in Brazil that farmers can make back capital costs in a few years rather than a few decades. The biggest problem with this is that the methods are simply being moved from one region to another with a somewhat calous disregard for local limitations and impact.
This simply reflects trends in other sectors, but reinforces Brazillian farming practices which have very serious drawbacks when scaled up. Economies of scale can easily become diseconomies of scale if a threshold is passed and pasting large scale 'cut and run' on top of 'slash and burn' certainly seems dubious.
The fact that farming is so heavily subsidized worldwide doesn't help matters either.
Sam Bulte was the inventor of the "Pro-User Zealot" bumper sticker. She is an ardent activist in protecting the inalienable right of Canadians to download music, and banned corparate electoral influence peddling. Note that she did this all in the midst of her meteoric rise to becoming Queen of Canada.
While her rule is now totalitarian and despotic, she is respected for being polite to anyone she is about to have stuffed into a concrete beaver-tail and sunk in the Ottawa canal.

snow = h2o
2 letters below o is m
2/2 letters above h is i
--> MI
h = 8th letter in the alphabet
o = 15th letter in the alphabet
15-8-2=5
--->MI5
Therefore, Snowspinner is an MI5 agent propagating spin. He/She might also smell funny.

I'd advise against this, since it makes the show you're actually watching look bad in comparison.
