It's an enhancement that's so deep, convenient and powerful, it threatens to reduce the 20-year-old Mac/Windows system of nested folders to irrelevance.
Er, of course, it was Unix that had nested folders first. Also I was just thinking... I think it would be a pretty horrible world if users just put all their stuff in the same folder - with no attempts to categorize things. That would make for some very horrible folders. Hey, something like some people's inboxes, I suppose.
Unlike desktop search tools that encourage people not to organgize - how about tools that make it easy to organize. Eg easy symlinks.
But he's only saying that to get out of this situation. It just happens to suit him fine to say it now. You can bet when they unveiled the anti childporn system that they weren't saying "neutral" things then. Totally self-serving.
I'm getting a bit tied of Schneier. Its easy to be a critic and say everything is insecure. You always know what he's going to say. In fact I've noticed:
Schneier just don't work anymore. As computers have gotten faster, Schneier guessing has gotten easier. Ever-more-complicated Schneier are required to evade Schneier-guessing software. At the same time, there's an upper limit to how complex a Schneier users can be expected to remember. About five years ago, these two lines crossed: It is no longer reasonable to expect users to have Schneier that can't be guessed. For anything that requires reasonable security, the era of Schneier is over.
After he was told the first plane had hit the build and after reading the memo....he should have acted before the second plane hit. Instead of reading a book about a goat to kids. Or more graphically:
What about simple dual booting? Doesn't the latest Windows erase Linux when its installed? Er something like that. I have Win95 and RedHat dual booting but I think I heard its has changed in recent years.
I have thought this before too. Sometimes you hear peopel say Gates its OK - look at all the money he give to charity. Well, how about a rich PC industry that didn't cheat/steal/monoculture - one without Gates - that gives lots of money to charity. That would be better.
Popups are anoying and there's no excuse for them but I pay for the hosting my site with banner ads. I wish people wouldn't block them. You don't have to click on them.
I suppose I could make a AdBlocker Blocker. It would so it people download my banner ads... if they don't then they cann't see the rest of the site.
Lets say your website was the top Google search for, say, weather in New York. You got tons of hits. Now you'll get zero because Google steals the hits and displays the weather itself.
So before Google shared... now it doesn't. A bit evil.

You have a point.
I assume you just hop around the US. Once you get going over oceans this plane makes sense.
Its in Fedora Core -- but it doesn't work for me.
Even targeted disallows things that should be allowed.
Did you see the scroll bar in one of the menus?!
Why? There's still room on the screen for it to taller. A scroll bar should be the last resort.
Yuck.
Google put a lot of weight in the title but why must every search engine. I am sure Microsoft is evil but this don't prove anything.
Well, MSN never promised they wouldn't be evil.
So it seems fair to me.
... now that's a useful patent.
Someday we'll get multicasting and streaming will actually work.

It would be cool if it wasn't hardlinks but the ablity to spread a big file over multiple volumes.

Using built-in specs.
Target: i386-redhat-linux
Configured with:
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.0.0 20050405 (Red Hat 4.0.0-0.40)
How about this: to get the insurance you have to sign a form that says you are the gay partner. Done.
You are inventing problems.
So you are saying:
they are whores with no principles.
I agree.
My cups.conf is 862 lines. And there are other config files in my /etc/cups directory too. Eg clients.conf, printers.conf. Its not easy.

I always test my sites with Opera, Firefox and IE.

I'd rather not have to.
I must say "super" is a pretty pathetic word
to use to describe your own site. Especially when there's no irony involved.
Doesn't Ghost let you swap out OSes?
I bet the Microsoft tool doesn't do that!!!
Nice. Now if only MSN would.
I don't much like this.
Its like they are trying to take over the web.
