GStreamer is supposed to play Quicktime
but I downloaded it a fooled around for a couple
hours and no luck. Has anyone made it work?
(I got mplayer working)
I hope the new command is called "smbnet". Just "net" seems a bit presumptuous. After all this "net" refers to you local LAN and there is after all the interNET.
Microsoft Corp. announced Wednesday it would shut down its Internet chat rooms in 28 countries, saying the forums had become a haven for peddlers of junk e-mail and sex predators.
Er, what country is a chatroom in.
They are in the Internet country.
The.cc domain is Verisign controlled and does the sitefinder-type thing... http://RandomJunk8347458475.cc
Also, as Verisign so helpfully pointed out in their letter the other day many TLDs wildcard. ICANN should *ask* them to stop too.
Bind has their option to prevent wildcarding from certain domains. Maybe they could ship it pre configured block all wildcarding domains. Or can you simply say block all wildcarding no matter what the TLD.
Since BIND is prevalent it could take an end run around the existing.com and.net root servers. It could set up a parallel DNS!
Arg, why does everyone says this removes 404's.
You need a webserver to return a 404. Before
wildcarding you didn't hit a websserver so no 404.
And you can still get a 404 by hitting a page that doesn't exist on a webserver that does.
I see Google uses MapQuest. For a second I thought of MapBlast! Which is now owned by the evil empire (MSFT). Its getting harder and harder to avoid their tentacles these days.
I heard the story where somebody luser thought the "space bar" was a drinking establishment in outer space.

I might point out that the explanation recursively uses the word "any". It would be better if they said: "it doesn't matter which key you press" or something like that.
No this is no good either... what about Linux
and other free (tm) OSes. It's not fair to expect a Linux distributor to pay a huge fine when a comploinetn inlcude in their distro has a bug. Jeeze. They're only barely breaking even as it is!
Since I am a consultant I have a GST number. I recently got some GST mail saying that every business in Canada needs to come up with a privacy policy. It said (something like): Privacy, its good for business.
... As of August 14 seems like a terrific idea for electric power. Let's copy that fine idea of dependency on the perfect working for a system several states away.

I heard that kids who drink mostly bottled water
(a fairly recent phenomenon) has more cavities.
Still I'm not crazy about the metaphor.

How easy would it be to replace CRC-32 with
something else in CIPE?
Without looking at the code, I assume it does:
UINT2 word = Crc(buffer);
So could this just be changed to:
UINT2 word = Md5(buffer) & 0xffff;
... to use.
I hope the flaws are fixed.
Yes, they really should stop speaking Chinese there too. Don't they know that the rest of the world speaks English.

I hope you aren't click on links in spam!
This just encourages them.
up 9 percent
Not much of a surprise, I guess.
And Trillian 2.0 Pro now (finally) support Jabber!!!
Wha... Miranda is great and GPLed
I see he's smart enough to know when to use duct tape.
This is a Microsoft trick.
They charge for access to some code (CIFS?) the settlement
required them to release.
Another dumb idea... License the user
Both ideas have some dumb, expensive slow-moving govt body out there... WRONG.

Does OpenSSH run on Windows?
If so this would be a Windows vulnerability too.
I always wondered how netcraft and nmap could
determine how many days a server has been up.
Does Apache give out this info?

As a next step, consider removing the entertainment crap.
