3D is a gimmick, but resolution is not a gimmick. Resolution is very important. Just turn on any HDTV sports broadcast and compare it to old SD sports broadcasts

Awww crap, I just used all my mod points... otherwise I would mod you up.

Just to reinforce what you said (I see there are some rebuttals), the reason why "HD is very important" is due to the screen sizes.

As Skreems already said, most of us "don't care". But the reason we do not care is because we (still) do not have big screens.

I myself have an old not too big CRT (came with the furnished flat I am renting) and of course DVDs and standard Xvid movies look fine.

However, I have seen how horrible a DVD looks in 42'' screen, and believe when I say you can see the compression artifacts (I saw them, and I have astigmatism and other fuckedupness in my eyes).

So, as screens become bigger and bigger, resolution will matter more and more to the standard population.

Whereas, 3D (in its current implementation) is just a gimmick; sure it is a nice novelty and we all spend our time and money to go watch whatever movie and it is in 3D... but it is *not* something to stay long-term as an integral part of the film experience (unlike color or sound)

There's one reason why some people call prostitution the oldest profession...

I think the main reason why prostitutes exist is because there is demand for it. And I believe there will always be.

The fact that in today's society it is "morally incorrect" to sell sexual services is just a temporary (in the hundreds of years span) thing.

But even if government would be able to ban all prostitution the only thing that would happen is that the service would become more expensive, and the people who provide the service would have less rights.

However, if prostitution was completely legal, open and accepted then it will only be a matter of calling a private number and safely providing/consuming those service at home.

The fact that some people choose to be prostitutes is because it gives them a certain amount of income for another certain amount of work. Sure, those same persons may be able to change their jobs but that would mean doing more work for less payment.

BTW, I remembered an interview a guy in Mexico made to 2 "male prostitutes" (Gigolos) from Mexico City. The two guys were professionals, one of them was a doctor. When asked why did they decide to prostitute they answered that it was because they earned a high salary doing this job whereas doing their day job was not profitable enough *for their lifestyle*

If this had been over Inception or another really great film, I could understand better. This? Please.

This is nothing but Microsoft saving time and money by using Freetype that is already ported to the Mac instead of doing the work to port Cleartype. This a non-story at best.

You mean, it is like FreeType "suits better Microsoft's needs" when porting MS Office to OSX??

And they indeed dumped ClearType for Freetype for this OSX version; that is a true assertion. The fact that they decided to compile others code instead of use their own is exactly that.

On a serious note, I have lost every desire to buy HP devices. Nowadays they are *very* poor quality.

The last thing I bought was an HP notebook about 10 years ago... it lasted for about 3 years and suddenly the DC connector stopped working (it seems it was a known issue on HPs that the solder points of the jacks were crappy). In addition, my brother recently bought an HP netbook... it a bit more than 1 year (enough so that the warranty ended) before it just stopped working (the motherboard was fried).

I have been buying ASUS since about 15 years (first, mainboards... GREAT mainboards along with ABit) and later I have bought 3 EEE netbooks (1 for me, 1 for my wife and 1 for a friend who liked our devices) and they all have been great so far (2 years the oldest).
