So you would literary throw your PS3 out the window

Verily, this Playstation has become a financial burden of prodigious proportions, therefore I promulgate now, that I shall have no more to do with it, and plan to dispense with the economically burdensome device forthwith!

With that being said, I bid you good day Sir!

The problem with competitive gaming is that it's more exciting to play the game than it is to watch someone else, even if they are way better than you.

The way to keep people interested is to involve them. Simply presenting video gaming in the same manner as a football match isn't really enough.

Fuck the cloud! I don't want all my gaming delivered down the pipe as a metered "service". I like owning hardware, and having the ability to play games without being hooked up to a subscriber model.

Internet gaming is often subject to ISP drop-outs and traffic shaping. Why would I willingly embrace single-player gaming in the same poor environment?

Kundra's enthusiastic comment about saving millions by using Google apps instead of buying enterprise software would worry me if I lived in the US.

I don't particularly care if MS loses a big sale, but the question of ownership doesn't seem to come up.

How safe is government data if it's stored on someone else's servers?

Also, why is Google being pitched as the only alternative?

I considered buying a Wii but the the games still seem to be going for the cutesy angle. I'm after something a bit more hardcore, but with good 4 player split screen offline with bots.

So far the consoles just seem to be trying to replicate PC online gaming. As I already have a decent PC for CS:S, L4D etc, that's not really what I was after :/

  18. Re:No splitscreen? on An Early Look at Killzone 2's Multiplayer · · Score: 1

COD4's 4way splitscreen competitive is fun, but you don't get bots or the ability to take your splitscreen guest online (as in WarHawk), so it's not great when there's only 2 of you playing.

After doing a fair bit of reading I've discovered that Free Radical was recently bought up by Crytek, so hopefully TimeSplitters 4 will come out on the PS3 and show everyone how it should be done. I just want a flashy TS2/GoldenEye clone for the PS3 which goes good with 3 mates and a case of beer. The graphics wouldn't have to utterly strain the console's processing power.

I'd rather not shell out for a new console to get this really, having given it some thought...

  19. No splitscreen? on An Early Look at Killzone 2's Multiplayer · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why are there no games on the PS3 that have an offline split-screen option? I merrily bought 4 controllers hoping that Haze etc would offer offline bot-enabled deathmatch action but so far have been severely disappointed.

Am now considering picking up a 360, as when mates come round we can't blast eachother in the old N64 style :/

Can any 360 owners provide examples of games for their system which are good for this?
