    I think the point is that is is useless to arrest a six week old baby - since it cannot yet do anything other than cry, shit, eat and look cute.

    What is amazing is that people actually expect the military/police to come out and say, "OK, this is how to make an undetectable explosive that will kill all your neighbors... fix take A and..."

    I have to agree - I walked to school from i was 6 - sure I had to arrange with my parents if I stayed at others place after school but still an adult was not always present.

    I would not do that to my child - a child deserves a little privacy and the older he becomes (starting when the kid start school) he should learn to take more care of himself.

    Does the fact that I walked to school every day (500m) from I was 6 mean that my parents where bad?

    Perhaps, but I am not interested in quality computers. I want em cheap. Sure they will not last as long but then I can get a new faster machine. Why pay 3 times as much for an Apple computer? Say my cheap computer last 2.5 years this means that the apple computer has to last 7.5 years (and not be more obsolete than the cheap computer paid for 2.5 years ago).

    The thing is - I would expect UK guys to think rationally, go about on their daily lifes, enjoy the good BBC channels etc. They lived throught the blitz (which is so much more dangerous than this) and lived to tell, so why panic now?

    No thanks - I choose a book (and chances are that the books i read are not on the plane) and i will keep it.

    This may mean no more flighs for me, and that is a shame. Mind you it would be the security precautions and not the terrorists that made me choose this.

    I like you will not fly on a plane with these rules in effect - but what do you do if you say had a layover and the terroists instituted these rules?

    Do you have legal right to demand altenate forms of transportation? Could you demand that they insured the laptop for some extreem amount (say £100.000) free of charge?

    why?
    If you choose to pay of the OS how is that any different from the situation today?

    I mean i can understand not wanting to use an ad suported OS but not wanting to pay for a copy of Microsoft Windows just because they also make aviable an ad supported version.

    If it is because you prefer Linux, then rest assured no adds are comming in Linux - the hackers would never, ever let that happend.

    When you sent people a letter, you can take you sweet time making the grammar perfect because the mailbox will not be emptied more than once per day anyway.

    When you send an email it has to go much faster, but there is usually still time to run a spellchecker. Whenever you use IM there is so little time before the expected answer that you need to be fast at typing, with no time to check spelling and grammar.

    Why not allow them to be counted first by a computer, and then by hand.

    That way the tv networks will have something to talk about and the right results will arrive eventually.

    And that is what parents can and should do something about (well unless it is a boarding school). If you demand that school serve your children healty food and then dont cook them something healty - then you only show them, that adults have double standards and they will resent you for it.

    What the fuck - you want to prohibit an adult (me for example) from choosing what i want to eat!

    What happend to this place - It used to be about freedom, know you want to prevent me from buying food that has been deamed unhealty (who should be the judge of that btw?) just because you have failed to teach your kids that they need to be able to think for themselfs.

    Dont blame it all on fast food - that would not be a problem if the kids got exercise (that does not mean they have to take an arobics class, it means they should do something that is hard and makes them sweat).

    As for cafeteria food tasting like shit you are right. I eated it maybe 4 times in total doing my (3 year) in high school. The rest of the time I my mother prepared some food, that you know actually taste good.

    I blame time. If I have to write a letter and know it will not be mail for the next two days anyway, I may choose to sleep on the contens maybe rewrite it in the morning. If it is an email I run a spell checker on it (or forget to) but that is pretty much it. If on the other and i am chatting with somebody I will have no time to think so I will type really short messages full of errors.

    That ofcause assume that you are writting in you native tongue and not some foreign language (as I am doing now).

    I just wish that ./ would install a spell checker.
