"I'm not sure what you want to see the shareholders do or think, unless it is perhaps "that money is being wasted on lawsuits" which is probably not a foregone conclusion."
Companies also have "Good Will" which is taken into account when selling a company. Good will is essentially people liking the company, Having a good brand image, good reputation etc. The recording industry is hurting their good will which while may not be directly quantifiable at the moment, but will damage sales and reduce future business opportunities.
Whether or not this will be worth it to stop file sharing, remains to be seen.

Actually, Dolphin (from my experiences) can be set up a lot like Krusader, in a nice split screen with hotkey short cuts, I was much a grieved to find there isn't anything like it when I tried to switch to gnome yesterday (to check out Fusion).
The trouble with this is that if this is a war, then they aren't "Enemy Combatants" they are prisoners of war, this of course gives them certain rights (such as the right not to be subject to violence).
If these people are not prisoners of war then they are criminals and as such have the right to a fair and speedy trial. Holding them in this way is presuming their guilt without proving it. I very much feel for those who are incorrectly incarcerated in this way, their is no way for them to argue their case.
People seem to be getting this nasty assumption that you're guilty unless you can prove otherwise[1] (the same with privacy and the "if you're not guilty" argument), which would result in the arrest criminals, but people forget that it would cost the freedom of innocent individuals, and what if you were one of the innocent who had their freedom unduly stripped?
[1] Perhaps from the actions that governments have been taking in the around the world make it seem like it's acceptable?
What makes me pleased about reading this article, is that the school protected it's pupils from the producers pseudo-science, and didn't allow them to continue. Hopefully this will mean in the future these children will know to be weary of sensationalist TV shows & films.
I hope all schools are instilling the same sort of thinking (looking for scientific method) in their pupils, it might result to a smarter tomorrow:)
Here's my attempt at applying my critical thinking lessons to this argument, i'm not sure about the strawman, but i think that's an example of one.
P1: Kyoto Protocol would put no such restrictions on developing nations such as China and India.
P2: They could grow and boom, but America would have to shrink it's economy to comply.
C1: the US [should] refuse to cut levels
consume all the energy the like and spew unlimited amounts of who-know-what into the atmosphere
strawman
No wonder it's been called the "Stop America Protocol."
appeal to emotion
(translation: "refuses to devolve our economy")
appeal to emotion
a couple of assumptions are that undeveloped countrys wouldn't want to do something similar to keep up with the developed world
and that the developed world would trade with countrys that don't do something about polution
it's not just girls that are like that though, just take a look through myspace or whatever the equivilent in your area is, and you'll descover that all the guys seem to make an active effort to fit into a male steriotype.
which is a very good reason for people not to have online WYSIWYG editors, perhaps it would stop a lot of this zelot stuff. since in my experience it is the less tech savy people that do it
Well, its sorted now, and its good and stable and such.
But i really think that the gui's that run off x should build in something like the display properties tool on windows, that auto detects the monitor's refresh rate and edits the config accordingly, or x.org should make one (or someone).
From my experience as a linux begginger, the only real problem in setting up linux is that damn x.org config file, that caused me several hours of agony, the script to set it up isn't much better.
everything else worked perfectly for me, except my wifi card, but NDIS wrapper sorted that in no time
I think isp's should do what ntl did during the ms blaster worm out break, which is only allow the user to connect to ether the removal tool or a page that contains a link to it and how to use it. it would take more work, but its better for the customer.

My theory is that all those Christmas letters are delivered to mailboxes registered by the Santa Corp. with post offices around the world. they then sell these letters to toy companies and research groups for cash
i also belive that they may offer cash to perents in excange for similar information, why else would perents take children to see santa clause?
why not write a batch file that just copys the whole of your music collection across and add it autoplay.
they is a neat resistry hack for doing to with blank cd media here (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/add_burner.htm/)
could someone try this with a mp3 player or something, i would be interested to see if it works
just my uninformed 2 cents
i agree with what you say about microsoft having a lot of bull shit about it
but instead of ranting about how hackers are all to blame, perhaps you should take a look at the companys paying them to code aware and spyware.
and the truth of the matter is that a lot of the problems would just be left by microsoft AND other companys if the security holes wern't exploited by viruses and worms.
and i think you would blame the lock company if when you just leaned on the door and it spung open.
That contract is between the government and the purchaser, not between the seller and the purchaser.
Bit of a flawed analogy.

Lynx (http://lynx.browser.org/)
I doubt that grandma could use it, but it's pretty simple, and has saved me on many an occasion
