TOS was the height of science compared to TNG, where there wasn't a problem that couldn't be solved by a well placed tachyon beam. For TOS, the technobabble was mainly just to set up a situation, for some TNG episodes, the technobabble was basically the story.
Considering that Discovery is a pretty expensive show to make, I can imagine that they were gambling that if it was a flop, they could pull the plug, but if it was a success, they could use the hiatus to film more episodes.
Thus far, while it isn't my favorite ST (I'm a TOS fan, myself, with DS9 in second place), it isn't bad. Judging by what's happening to Stamets, I suspect there's a reason the spore drive ends up in the wrecking yard of failed FTL technologies, where transwarp drive will join it later.
What does it even matter now? The readership of the flagship journalism outlets like the Washington Post and the New York Times is falling, and what you're left with is basically "All Hyperbole All The Time" outlets like CNN and Fox News. It's pretty clear most people are not interested in news, but rather in heavily editorialized reporting that allows them to nestle safely into their echo chambers. Just look at the coverage of the gubernatorial and state elections in Virginia. From CNN, you would think 2018 is already won for the Dems, and if you read Fox News, it's a whole lot of "yeah, that don't mean nuthin'", when in fact while it does mean something, it's still a long road to November 2018, as the boring old time journalist rags will remind everyone. But that kind of cautious, balanced reporting doesn't get the hits, but a constant barrage of talking heads in an increasingly hyperpartisan atmosphere, now that gets the dollars flowing.
I'm still trying to put a finger on what the problem here is. You might as well say a video of Andy Kaufman reading the Great Gatsby is a form of abuse.
It has significant physiological effects. We aren't computers that you can just reset the clock. It takes several days to get used to the time change, during which there are a higher risk of accidents. It may have been a good idea when the electric light bulb was still a rarity, but it ceased being a good idea decades ago.
I still get shivers up my spine everytime I see a ventriloquist's dummy, thanks to The Dummy. I must have been four or five when I first saw it, and I'm not sure I've ever been so freaked out before or after.
You're not tweiebly familiar with the original Teimighty Zone or Rod Serling, I see. Or the original Star Trek for that matter. Both Serling and Roddenberry were intensely interested in "social justice" and used science fiction or fantasy tropes as a means to explore social issues.
It's an argument about how Republicans disadvantage blue states to win in red states who generally a pretty piss poor economic performers. To put this in perspective, California is the sixth largest economy in the world.
Until your hard drive blows up, your LAN goes down or your computer goes on the fritz. It's not like local file servers are magically immune to failures.
I tried to use Edge last year. After a couple of hours I went back to Chrome. Visually, it's simply the shits, and it really doesn't work worth a damn. I'd rather use IE.
I always viewed Kirk's ability to drive computers nuts to be the dramatic version of:
10 PRINT "DOES NOT COMPUTE"
20 GOTO 10

It's kind of like Mao declaring Khrushchev ideologically impure.

It should, but now that Google is the new Microsoft, I guess abusing that market dominance must just be something that happens to large companies.
It wouldn't be the same without Flight of Valkyries!

I'd say that it is more than enough, and almost certainly would get you fired.
Yeah, someone posting their view on Jews totally wouldn't have a negative view on any Jewish coworkers. Oddly enough most human beings have emotions.
So is it the case that the conservative view is that women are inferior in STEM careers?
Thanks Ivan. How's the weather in st Petersburg?
Well first of all delicate snowflake, she's not going to be charged, and all the pardoning is going to be trump pardoning the likes of manafort
The Republicans wish they could throw Trump under the bus.
And again, another alt right snow flake that knows nothing about the original Twilight Zone

How about the fact you're already paying more in insurance due to the effects of CO2. Every person who buys property insurance is subsidizing Big Oil.
Which hurts the Koch Brothers, who basically own Congress right now.

Google drive, at least on PCs, has a local copy stored, so even if a backhoe cuts the fiber, I can still work on a file.

Why would the two be mutually exclusive?
