    Given that all the indications point to a mechanical defect, and not to pilot error/incapacitation, he has done himself a great favour participating in the race as the outcome was that he died quickly and spectacularly during his favorite activity, instead of wasting his final unrewarding years away in a retirement home. I'd like to die that way too. And frankly, the same probably applies to the bystanders that died. Go watch a snail race if you want to be 100% safe from crashing snails.

    Because I'm sick as hell having to pay four times as much for green-as-piss electricity, seeing both landscapes and nice roofs ruined by eyesores (wind / pv panels), being lectured by busybodies that's weren't paying attention during physics classes and not fully being compensated by snugness when I can say "told you so" as the inevitable blackouts become part of my daily life. That's why.

    Impossible. Thousands of climate scientists could not have overlooked this. It's too late for these novelties: the science is settled.

    The sun's output is constant, always has been, and even if it weren't, the effect on the climate wouldn't be noticable, and even if it were, it could only be warming.

    Hmm, its 2m wingspan will discourage the hawks. This weekend I was soaring my 1.5m eHawk, circling amidst a flock of 5 buzzards (larger than hawks) which seemed to appreciated the company !

    I don't think so. Most of the 'stabilization hard- and software' of the birds is probably built-in into the autonomous neurological network, just like a human is able to walk/run/jump upright - which is inherently unstable - without having to consciuously micromanage all muscles that are involved.
