As it was I had a fairly strong random password with SMS 2FA set up. And I just changed it to and even stronger random password (longer).

But if I lost the account somehow it would barely be classified as a nuisance. I would just create another somewhere or another and move on..

I got Android 6 about a month ago, and while most things still work, it broke Android Pay pretty badly. It used to be easy to pay for something with the phone - now it keeps hounding me for the administrative password for the phone (even though I unlock the phone with my fingerprint), and some payment terminals get confusing/conflicting information from the phone which screws up the transaction even more.

It isn't worth the hassle of using the thing for payments any more.

If you look at the newer Gen-3 diesels and compare to similar gasser models, the one notable difference is that the diesels lack the independent rear suspension. Why? Most likely to make room for the DEF tank.

As you say, retrofitting DEF would be a challenge. Not just the tank, but plumbing, wiring, a new ECU, more sensors.

And where/how do you fill the tank? Where is the fill tube, in other words? If they end up having to cut the body panels to make room for it, how do they ensure that the metal around the edge is properly treated/painted so that it doesn't rust.

The ones that I have used all have a separate ethernet port for the management console. So by default it is off as you need to physically plug in an extra cable (and configure it in the BIOS) before any of this matters.

Show me a machine where you can't disable it in the BIOS, and where it shares the same ethernet port as the main machine, and then I will get a bit more excited.

That sounds about right. As best I can tell from the article they are essentially talking about the kind of stuff you can do from a DRAC/IPMI port. But there is no requirement that you plug in an Ethernet cable into the associated port if you don't want to.

  18. That was my first reaction as well. There are no FB reporters in the middle east, for example - any news from there comes from some other news source. Or some person on FB posting pictures from some unverified location.

It is more the filtering that concerns me. People insulate themselves and end up being unaware of things going on in the world. That's the thing about a real newspaper that is different - as you peruse the thing, you encounter stories that you might not normally read that turn out to be quite interesting. If you filter out everything except for things like celebrity gossip and cat photos, you gradually become a moron.

TV is worse - they went into this "reality" black hole to avoid having to pay lots of writers. But to say that they are unscripted isn't correct either - I believe that there are elements to the shows added to make them more "interesting", and I suppose someone comes up with that crap, and their job title might be something along the lines of "writer".
