I believe that users are not as much to blame as software companies.
That's like blaiming the gun company or the bullet manufacturer when people shoot themselves. I agree that the average user needs to be more informed, but putting locks and blocks on everything is not the answer. Personal responsibility is nearly erroded in America, this is just another example where people want to put the blame on someone else, other than a person's own stupidity, ignorance, or arrogance.
I don't see VHS holding nostalgia for anybody, people grew up on records and there is something about pops and setting the needle and such. Tapes have nothing remarkable about them, GenXers aren't going to be flocking for "retro" VHS stores any more than they are cassette tapes.
How many people have died or gotten ill from asbestos?
Well, according to the British Journal of Cancer, mesothelioma (a type of cancer caused by asbestos) deaths will top out about 2,000-2500 per year just in the UK by 2015. In 2001 1,848 died of it in the UK alone. So, total deaths worldwide are probably more like 50,000-75,000+ with many more on the way.
Um, because they want a more proprietary format to monopolize the online music industry? They know that most users don't know that they can convert file formats and will blissfully by themselves an ipod/whatever crappy mp3 player microsoft will certainly launch soon, if they own a bunch of songs with that format.
Wow, you have a lot of faith in the justice system. Just because the jury finds him not guilty doesn't mean he didn't commit a crime, especially given his celebrity status. OJ anyone?
In 2003, California Institute of Technology researchers Andy Ingersoll and Shane Byrne argued, on the basis of high-resolution and thermal images from Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Odyssey, respectively, that the Martian polar ice caps are made almost entirely of water ice - with just a smattering of frozen carbon dioxide at the surface.
Even if they are water, however, the climate at the caps is much to harsh to support human life, too damn cold, and too much seasonal change. That's the primary reason why we don't head to the poles.
At the Red Hat Summit, Mark Webbink, Deputy General Counsel at Red Hat, is expected to announce the creation of the Fedora Foundation and the Software Patent Commons.
That is why there isn't anything on the websites yet, it hasn't been "officially" announced.
Not really, oxitocin is released during orgasm, it is not responsible for orgasm, other than the feeling of euphoria slightly afterwards. So if someone is bad in bed, they're still shit outta luck.
Consumers should pay for recycling / disposal, why should computers or tv's be different from any other piece of trash? Once you purchase the equipment, you are responsible for it.
They'd put these little quiz/application things in the student newspaper here (UIUC) all the time last year. It usually consisted of a bunch of pattern finding / abstract thought questions. I think this must be what they were actually applications for.
Wrong on both counts. How can you make that statement? Have you ever boned a robot? What else have you had sex with in order to make the statement that there is no substitute for a real women? Until we see the finished product, I'll reserve judgement
Of course it would all but crash humanity. Think about it, if you could just buy a robot chick and do whatever you pleased to her, no one in there right mind would deal with all the shit a relationship entails. People would forget to mate for procreation, and an increasingly top heavy population would eventually bring about a new dark age.
The University of Illinois, and many other universities I suspect, issues everyone a Unique Identification Number which basically takes the place of the SSN for all university business. Makes a hell of a lot more sense if you ask me.
3...2...1...Flame On!
Since when has MS taken a lax approach to what version of Windows OS retailers and OEM's install on their systems?
Since it was in there interest not to?

To quote a famous black deli-owner, "Not one of your finds power sexy?"
In reality, it is because men are by far the largest target for porn, that or women who want to see other women. So there you have it.

First of all: You mean World's Most effective use of C++
Second of all: This joke is getting progressively lamer as the day goes on.
According to CNN Money google is down 10.36 since yesterday. Wonder if that puts them back in second place.

It still looks a lot like conventional scuba gear, but I'm guessing the tank is lighter, plus you don't have to worry about running out of oxygen.

Yeah, just yell it out the window to everyone within thirty miles of you.
Or you could get a bullhorn and just broadcast it to everyone, radio or no.
This isn't even close to the same thing, nice try though.
