I love my CRT monitor. Bright, sharp, 4/3 and handles different resolutions of old games flawlessly. Sure it is heavy, consumes more power, takes up space and makes faint noise, but I love it all the same.

The user will do anything and everything to get what they want. They will accept any kind of warnings you through at them, no matter how scary language you use. If you completely take away their ability to control this (ie. Walled garden like Apple), you end up with much more restricted experience.

If you have found an exploit, that means that the software it is attacking is faulty.
In reality is it impossible to have perfect non-trivial application. Software's first and foremost purpose is to carry out the task it was designed for. Second priority is to have it made as quickly and as cheaply as possible. To achieve that, quality must be sacrificed.
It is prohibitively expensive to keep patching software every singly time something is discovered. Not to mention that a lot of software is legacy that is no longer under active maintenance.Even if you had all the money and time, it is still impossible given the number of variables are involved. The sheer complexity of large applications is overwhelming for any one developer to fully grasp.
Much more helpful to present links to readers in click-able form: National Geographic News . That will ensure that more people will read it and they will be more grateful to you for saving them the effort of copy-paste.
I honestly don't want to sound like an asshole, but I strongly suggest anyone posting online to be familiar with basic link creation syntax. This W3C page is very good. W3CSchools is a very good learning resource in general.
Let us be honest about ourselves: We are just as disturbed as the 4chan/reddit/something awful communities and don't have a higher ground to judge the bronies fandom.

Ever since 9/11 coverage Slashdot irreversibly changed. It gained a different demographic and turned distinctly more political. That in my opinion is when the tech content became more and more rare, with Your Rights Online section becoming most common types of stories posted.

I am not sure if I agree that the issue warrants such a life-or-death exaggerated attitude towards this system, but apparently some portion of the community is quite passionate about rejecting it.
