I am of the opinion that dual monitors are manditory for developers.
I used to think that but then got three (20") as i was using remoting software onto a test bed a lot, and losing the second screen got kind of annoying
now the ideal setup is five and a 42" plasma above for diagnostic windows obviously not for watching video, its kind of like working in swordfish without the blowjobs
Completely out of the blue comes ie7, why didn't they release an alpha and maybe a few betas to make it possible for web devs time to prepare themselves, rather than push the release the night before christmas and expect people to make their sites compliant instead of celebrating christmas?
"If you are filling up the bagging area then.... YOU ARE TRYING TO BUY TOO MUCH STUFF USING SELF CHECKOUT!"
Maybe so, but if the choice is take full basket (20+ items) to self checkout and deal with lack of room in bagging area or stand in one of the 3/4 queues of 5+ people with full trolleys. I'll be the one blocking up a self checkout.
"It's how it preforms that makes it what it is. Even if I mod my case to have neon lights and a slurpee machine, all that won't matter unless it keeps everything inside working well"
and putting a picture up on a wall won't help the wall keep the outside out (infact it may weaken it) but there is a pretty large market in after market mods for walls, some people spend millions on them...
I'd rather pay more for a ticket, from a reputable source, than wait in line for a ticket (or buy of a ticket tout). If the price being asked for a ticket is too much then maybe you didn't really want to go that much
As long as there are safe guards in place to create a safe / fair auction, eg single blind bid
Tried to join the UK's version Sky by Broadband, films + sport on demand. After about 2 hours fiddling and upgrading drm components for windows media player it worked for about five minutes then crashed never to start again. Spent another three hours just trying to get any video to play because of the drm being screwed. So a good service ruined because of drm.
I remember a time, a few years back, when there was a technology called dvd. There were many shops specialist to local grocery stores that sold them. What dvd did was allow you to watch a film / tv show in a higher quality than previously. Everybody was happy.
Then some guy for norway came along and broke the protection, then the market disappeared, it started with the kids, the 'tech savy' then people from other demographics found out that any film was available almost immediately after cinema release. And obviously the market dried up. Now only a few hard to find specialist retailers and ebay sell old films now.
So now 'super drm' is the coming and people will be able to buy movies to view at home once again.
Or the majority of people don't pirate things because of the same reason the majority of people dont murder people, because its wrong on their moral compass. Unless your advocating being kept under 24 hour armed guard to prevent you doing anything illegal, because thats what drm is.
Everytime I think I should get round to trying wow et al I see a story like this.
So i should pay x per month to sit there pressing the same keys over and over while watching a film? I can do that for free, and if I unplug my keyboard i can do it roaming!
what i was getting at was, that i've seen the specs much like i saw the ps2 specs and reality didn't quite match the hype.
for me the machine i'll buy (or upgrade for) is the one that has gta4 at the best quality and experience. Gta3:sa, being the last game i bought, even though i had a launch day xbox360, but decided not to purchase it as i thought everything looked a bit shoddy, pgr may be the exception, but its a hell of a lot of money to spend on one game.
Apple stuff gets ignored just as much as Nike's, it will kick off a blog storm get a story posted here (and maybe a dupe or two) and probably a link to the story on the front page on newsites. In won't be a front page story in major papers or 'top the hour' on a news show, non techie people won't be discussing it over drinks anymore than when Nike announced adding a 'powerbar' to certain shoes. The only techie storys that are normally seen on the main segments of news shows are when certain products, like the ipod, are selling in huge numbers (and when stocks are running low).
"yeah but does it crash the X server every hour?"

the discussion was about 'self-checkout' not 'express line', there is a difference.
Didn't realise shops take cheques still, how quaint

>In fact, the majority of consoles in none of the markets were sold near launch.
unless i'm misunderstanding what your trying to say thats pretty obvious
The majority of miles in a 100 mile journey are done after the first 10 miles

...and its using a old typewriter style font, that makes it appear much more official and serious...
i'm sure ivegottickets28(35) fowards his profits to the artists involved in his ticket auctions

where is the line drawn? you may be happy with the what you describe in your posting, but people are offended by women on tv, do we cater for them?

Why am i thinking of the episode of the simpsons when homer gets obese and gets a 'drinking bird' to press the 'Y' key for him, whilst reading this?
"Oh, I was furious. I went out and bought the Starcraft battle chest again for a new key."
sounds kind of wrong?
So i should pay x per month to sit there pressing the same keys over and over while watching a film?
