    I see so many flaws in surveys, including multiple choices that don't include my answer, and page after page of ranking grids. Worse yet are the ones that show four product models -- say, server computers -- with random combinations of features and prices, asking me to rank. If they want to know what matters to me, just ask, don't try to trick it out of me. Other surveys lie about duration. All ways that people stop trying to answer and instead just pick randomly or on a straight line to get through the damned thing. A few have questions like "select D for this row" to try to detect this, but the practice is far from consistent and of limited efficacy.

    Maybe that's why the filesystem complement is so pitiful. No bundled compressing filesystem? In 2016? Seriously? Part of the beauty of ZFS is using it for a boot volume, Live Upgrade etc. Which are much harder when it isn't bundled. Let's get real here: in the end what it's about is Stallman's mental illness.

    Who the fuck gets a phone provided anyway? Last two jobs have paid for service but not the phone itself, which I had to have for on-call duty

  7. There is roughly zero reason to believe the phone in question would save anyone. It's about precedent. The government has chosen this phone to set one, as the perp is prominent. Think about it, why would the perp pay for a personal phone only to put something incriminating on a work phone??

    Only public information on Facebook could be referenced, so if you don't want your business to be public, don't broadcast it in the first place.

    Each of the three times I've talked to Google about a job they pulled the same shit on me -- and I'm not even a developer. Examples: obsessing over the reasons for . and .. directory entries, minutia of switch implementation of spanning trees. Very little pertaining to sysadmin work was actually asked. Once I was given an interactive coding interview. They'd told me to watch several videos about how to interview with Google, and they failed me because I did want the videos said to do.

    Indeed, the way they want them to think is "I've only been alive for 23 years". I've stopped bothering applying for Google jobs, the screening process makes it clear that they only talk to me for statistics.
