    IT salaries to oncrease 0.5% on average in 2005 I guess I just have a tough time trusting a news article with a typo in the TITLE.

    So the slashdot community likes to think of themselves as a whole as being more intelligent and above other communities.

    This posts shows nothing further from the truth, i'm appalled that there arn't more (-1: Troll)s on this..

    It's obvious this guy is no web security expert, nor does he claim to be. It's also obvious that his talent is more specialized and thus it should not be a surprise when he is unread on any given topic. And to top it off this was no news post as his edits say, he was mearly alerting his "friends" on the board in case they too were unread on the subject.

    It's a surprise this "story" was even posted.

    Even still, a social security number by itself wont do much, even with a useless email address. You could come up with SSNs through educated guesses with no problem. It's the SSN combined with the other info about the person that opens them up for attack.

    The media has REALLY damaged the term hacking havn't they? It used to mean accomplishing or working towards a difficult task. I'd hardly say getting the SSNs of random people at a given University is hacking. ;)

    It's not difficult. She is hot. I dont mind when she comes on tv. Granted opinions are across the board on her, a common consensu among guys i know is that she's deserving of such lust ;)

    And what many might be forgetting is that cheers and compensation need to trickle down from the top in many company structures. I can nearly guarantee you that the management team that produced that blue LED had its proper compensation.
