Same here. Knowing a little, or even a lot, of both will make you much more efficient.
You'll understand everyone, speak everyone's language.
Try to find something in the middle, and you'll open many doors.
Hell, even if you want to switch to systems desing or quality or other things not directly related to H/W or S/W, you'll be in a much better position than others who only know one side of the job.

Well, actually, the CRT display will be patentable, but not the software controlling it.

There is a whole paragraph that emphasizes the "control" part as not being patentable.

Way to go, Slashdoters, you're looking like a bunch of racist rednecks.

As far as I know, there are a few cross-site scripts that will fool many people.
I don't know about you all, but I don't consider myself as the dumbest of users, yet I'm pretty sure I'd fall in some of the most vicious traps.

Just because you know about it doesn't know you won't be another victim.

Yeah I guess Russia and China are the first two things that come to the average "Commie-hating" Redneck when someone mentions communism. Damn I'm no good at sarcasm. I agree (how could I not ?) that communism the way it has been enforced was bad and all, but come on what does that have to do with the fact that a good part of the American people hates "commies" ? I've never heard a satisfying answer.
