Huh? Thousands of sites with that vulnerability didn't get hacked, this one did. Would the police buy your "I shouldn't have to lock my door" excuse?
The GP post says there's no excuse, it is not entirely the admins fault, but they could have prevented it. I bet they won't get caught like that again. That's the answer.
I know you've gotten praise from sibling posts, but I had to throw my appreciation for your post in as well. I've got two boys and a baby on the way; and I've become acutely aware of how what a child is exposed to helps form their worldview.
Thanks for saying what I'd like to better than I know how.
Perhaps they're like my company (which is just starting up, really) and are trying to focus primarily on the services side of things. I get more spyware removal jobs (on those Dells, HP's, eMachines, etc that I can't compete with) than I have customers (they often require several 50 or 100 dollar invoices to remember my instructions.)
That was a rough sentence, but I hope you see what I meant. Also, don't underestimate what being a member of the local Chamber of Commerce can do. There are some people who refuse to buy from a big company when they can support a local business. While I let them know I can't compete with Dell, etc on price, I can definitely top them in quality and customer service/support.
Sorry, I'm normally not uptight about spelling, but since I made the same mistake you just did in a spelling bee over 15 years ago I'll just let you know that I think you mean: "dawdle."
I don't think that statement holds water even by your own reasoning. If lots of people like User Friendly, how does my liking it make me unique? Be thankful that not everyone likes the same stuff I do. You might not exist;)
Come on, why don't people realize that not everyones taste is the same. Frankly, I don't _want_ everyone liking just the things I like. It'd be boring...
Well, this republican stands for smaller government, less gov't intrusion into citizens lives, etc. But since 9/11 I feel like I've been abandoned by my party. So what the republican party stands for right now might be a moving target.
How is it that such an ordinarily enlightened group of people that gather here, can become JUST LIKE the fundamentalists they hate when presented with a hot-button issue.
Why can't we evaluate the moral and ethical implications of this? Why is anyone who attempts to do so instantly labeled a "luddite" or someone who tries to fight progress. Surely we are not so quickly reduced to ad-hominem attacks. Surely there are reasoned explanations?
In short, what is wrong with looking before we leap? I think we all agree that a lot of disturbing science fiction revolves around scientists who should have stepped back and wondered: "Should I really be doing this?"
I am the AC above. (This is like my 4th account in about 6 years or so. I keep losing them.)
There are, I believe two paragraphs in my post. You appear to have only read the first one.
Luckily your point is moot, because conscience is not genetic. Therefore, Darwinian selection does not apply.(If I sound condescending, I am sorry. I don't mean to, but I don't have a great deal of time today.)
I shouldn't reply, but you had me nodding my head in sympathetic agreement, until your last paragraph. Now, I'm thinking: wtf dude?
Well I did my part: I clicked the "No, I don't like it" button on their survey. Twice!

And so far, no one's asked me for a PVR
You guys are probably right. For some reason, the word 'doodle' never occurred to me.

0.09 nanometers?? Wow!
Yeah, I know what you meant. Sorry I couldn't resist...
Is it really a surprise that the proc will run stably underclocked?
They've been doing this at the factory for some time now.

Hey, I don't know if someone else has mentioned it or not, but check out Sinfest.
a reason to laugh at people that think it's good.

Just from reading the article excerpt, I now know not to choose a career when I'm blasted! Just at the end of my college career too!
Yes, won't someone please think of the children?!
And people think the airlines are in trouble now. I know my family won't fly if they have to go through one of these things.
And for the record, this is _NOT_ on the "acceptable security" side for me.
Wow, I'm just floored by the comic's scathing wit. It's very similar to this, isn't it?
Yes, but the hubbub's about why you and your countrymen and not saudi arabia.
The simplest explanation is oil. And the simplest explanation is often the correct one.

I fail to see how the issue boils down to even include France. To me, it's just another example of corporate greed.
If you don't like what a company does, don't buy their product. Let them know you didn't and why.
That's what I usually get also, luckily POPFile hasn't missed yet. So for me at least, it's just a minor annoyance.
