ok, free patent idea with HUGE royalty potential. the Manual Flatulence Diffuser.
I claim:
1) a method where by diffusing the heinous odors of flatulence, the method comprising the steps of
a) pinching ones nose by either thumb and index finger
b) pressing the back of ones hand to the nostrils
get this one and now every time someone tries to plug their nose you're golden!
while too late... TBS offered their bare streams of the ALCS on their website. You'd get 4 views, pitcher, batter, behind the plate (large view) and then slightly delayed, the super-imposed flight of the ball and how it went traveled to the strike zone.
I had to watch one game this way while my wife had on Desperate Housewives, yes, i know, but it kept you abreast of the action.
i'm guessing if they are going to put an $XX.XX screen on the cart, they will be in decent carts, ones that won't have the dreaded stuck or mind of it's own wheel issues going on.
wow, someone is having an even worse morning than mine!
1) yes, spamvertising sucks, i'd rather not deal with it 2) it isn't a checkout, only a running tally of what you are spending, so you know before you actually check out. 3) honestly, i think you have to read what the store has for a privacy policy and make your judgements there. you can get a reward card with little personal, or even real information. I do believe that these days, a store will have a major PR issue to deal with, or even legal ones, if they divulge your information against your will.
btw, i've been married for 12 years with 3 kids, while not perfect, i think i'm doing pretty good.
honestly, don't you think if this story was based on some small start-up trying out what would be called new cutting edge technology, the tones would be different?
yes, pen and paper work but how many times do you forget that at home? (yes, i must be getting old).
and ok, i was giving this process too much credit, thought the RFID technology would tell you where to get the items you wanted while giving you ads for them.
hmmmm.. what 4 things does every shopping cart have? well, usually only 3 are working, but i'm sure someone out there could come up with a way to generate power off the movement of the carts to power the screens, or at least lessen the need for a hardwire solution?
Does this post count as Prior Art to the Patent Office?;-)
seriously, why does it seems that if someone BESIDES Microsoft had proposed this idea, people would be all for it?
I actually think this isn't a bad idea, how many times have you been driving home and been like, 'Damn, I forgot this.. and that..'? Or are does everyone here have perfect memory? If so, please forward me some memory tips. Also, has anyone else experienced going to your local grocer AFTER they reorganized the store? It can take a dozen trips to remember where things were moved to.
Or wait, do you all just microwave frozen burritos and drink Jolt?
I have, starting with Dicks Picks Vol 1 and continue to do so. Can't remember the last store purchased album in my collection. But then again, most the bands I listen to let you tape the shows and share....
don't know the exact law/act/SEC rule, but my thoughts are MS will be able to bury it under a cost of doing business line item. especially one that's been used to pay fines/compliance for any anti-trust happiness they've been involved with.
exactly, why would anyone even WANT to join myspace? for it's fast loading time? for the horrible user layouts and really bad 'hello' graphics? or am i missing something?
I remember going into RIT in the Fall of '86 and the 'computer lab' was row after row of mainframe terminals. however, if you got in there early enough (before professors started logging in) you could plan a mean game of Moria, to me, still one of the greatest games going.
Going back a bit further, my first computer would be the Atari 1200XL with external cassette drive and plug in Basic cartridge. My display would be my then 10 year old black and white TV. Still have it, should fire it up one day.
i apologize, caffeine did not kick in and while attempting to moderate Insightful or Helpful (was trying to decide) fingers decided to mark this way.
ahhh, ok, this will be for naught as posting will remove that mistake.
thanks!
OK, here is the scenario. Joe Blow gets a job programming the payment processing system for the company you and your parents retirement money is invested in. He installs a back door that misdirects 1/100 cent out of every penny price increase per share of Apple they manage to an offshore bank account. Say, the company manages 60,000,000 shares for it's customers. That's $6K for each penny rise. Apple is up 43 cents today, that's ~$250K in his pocket. He gets discovered, but only after a few million dollars has been redirected.
How would you feel about that firm? The financial industry in general?
How would you feel if one morning you woke up to find out that ALL your money had been transferred out of your account? That Joe had been able to copy your passwords, log in impersonating you and transferring the money out?
Now how would you feel if you found out that Joe has a long history of criminal behavior and this could have been prevented if a thorough background check had taken place?
The financial services is a heavily regulated industry and the people working there have to EARN the right to do so. If background checks bother you, go work for today's pre-teen networking site of choice.
this is one of the most annoying things you will learn out in the corporate world. the person who actually wants you, will tell you almost anything that he/she thinks you want to hear. I have been burned in the past by taking someone's word, thinking that what they say will become reality. However, burned i became, especially once dealing with corporate.
so, my lesson for you grasshopper, get anything discussed in writing in your offer, or copies of policies they refer to and you will be much happier.
This could be an honest mistake by the hiring manager, I'll wager it most likely is, but sadly, the 'corporate' policy is what will win, unless of course, it's in your letter. After being burned, I have held up job acceptances going back and forth numerous times on what some HR people may deem insignificant. What they have lost sight of is that if it means enough to me to bring it up? It is nowhere near insignificant.
i would light a candle in honor of this post, but it would be outlawed under the dome...

my god, i can't believe some of my tax money went to pay for that patent... that alone should be reason enough to dissolve the USPTO.

the most surprising thing i have read so far is that there are still movie theatres charging less than $10!!
Discovery Channel filler? is there really such a thing? ;-)
GENIUS! SHEER GENIUS! Patent that before Amazon does!

I thought I remember seeing pocket proectors being useful in containing ball point pen explosions in one's shirt pocket.
I'm sure many early geeks found them useful to store smokes and matches in too.
Just be careful, some of those islands are inhabited by cannibals.

funny.. that's how we're handling a data center move it seems. shut down servers and see who barks!
well, i think you got in a bit late ;-)

>How is that failing on features
how about the big failure of making me pay for a cr@ppy ATT data plan in order to use Wi-Fi?
I was going to get one after my July 4th vacation, now I'll just hold off and see what Christmas brings me...

Wouldn't you already have everything backed up on paper?
