A bit hard to do, as they configure different specs. The apple has a better monitor (by one inch), better graphics card (slightly), and better mouse. The dell has a much better processer. IMO the processer evens out the apple stuff, as processer upgrades tend to be more. The dell also has a better warranty, 1 year on site vs apple's 90 days. The dell doesn't look half bad either. Add $150 to the dell for xp pro, but most users don't care about pro (I have both and don't really notice a difference, but I'm not doing anything really technical).
Honestly I picked up way more girls through AOL IM via profile searches and local chats that I did other methods. Although that was when I was a teen, I guess now it would just be creepy.
So does this dismiss the rumor that dreamcast games will be ported over to xbox live?
Yah, the HD is only 13 gigs, but some of the demos on arcade are over 1 gig, and you can redownload anything you purchase. So putting about 5 dreamcast games on the harddrive is entirly reasonable.
I have about 4 game demos (each nearly 1 gig), 6 games from xbox live, and 8 gigs free. I'm definately not hurting for space.
Perhaps they will require a dongle for activation. While I have no doubt that would eventually be cracked, it often takes a lot longer for dongle cracks than regular ones (at least from what I have seen). I believe it took 6 months for the latest Cubase to be cracked and even then it didn't work correctly.
The samsung i730 pda phone is a great phone without a camera. A little big, and runs windows ce (which could be a - if you're a linux guy), but it is a swiss army knife of phones. It essentially replaced my ipod and gameboy while traveling short places.
I'd even pay $1 an episode if they didn't have commercials and were in HD. I know I can just skip them, but I don't mind paying to avoid that.
I already (know someone who) pirates battlestar galatica, stargate, and southpark (don't pay for cable). They might as well start making money (hopefully other companies such as the sci-fi channel will take note).
It was obvious light gun type games would turn up with that type of controller. However, while it may be a blast, it is hardly revolutionary. I was hoping to see some games where they tried something different. Launch is still a decent time away so we'll see what comes up.
I bought the 360 specifically for oblivion. I first bought oblivion for the computer, but my system ran so shitty it brought down the experience (ati 9800 pro, amd 3200+, 1 gig ram. Yah I could have run on medium settings, but that would suck). Also, I could have upgraded my computer, but I'm also going to use it for business, don't want it sounding like a jetliner taking off full throttle, and it is fast enough for business. I don't even want to bother putting a whole new system together, and that would have cost much more than $399.
I don't regret the purchase. Heck, I don't even own any games other than oblivion, but you can download a dozen demos of games for free, and I had a blast playing games I usually don't play (project gotham). Geometry Wars is awesome and my wife is having a blast playing Zuma. Achievements, the leaderboard, and the gamer card are genius ideas and I hope nintendo and sony implement them. I plan on getting at least the revolution unless it turns out to be a gimmick. I was originally looking at the ps3 instead of the 360, but with an estimated price of $600-700, and a delay of launch (and it likely won't even be available until 3 months after launch unless you want to stay in line all night) I just said screw it.
Not sure if he was just trying to pull a sale, but the best buy rep said they had few 360s come back as returns from their 2nd shippment, unlike the 1st shipment with the powersupply issues.
Hint for those looking for a 360: open up the boxes in the store, I doubt anyone will care. On the back of the 360 it has a manufacture date. Apparantly the first batch of 360s had shitty DVD drives, so look for a later date (mine had one of march).
Having to pay for live gold is stupid, and I hope sony implements something equivalent that is free to encourage MS to drop the fee.
I'm guessing the people these laptops are targeted towards wouldn't be able to afford a $100 laptop, and the slack would be provided by companies willing to donate.
In that case just make the laptops $200. Sure you can't get as many of them, but they would be much more functional. I doubt the current version even has enough room or power for open office. Upgrade it to 733mhz celeron or AMD equiv, 800x640 display, 256mb ram, and a small 20gig harddrive. No reason to gimp the 3rd world, the specs above would result in a MUCH more functional laptop that could run most modern software, including open office. That and in a couple years I'm sure they could get it down closer to $100. Heck, you could get a bottom of the line dell for $499 with double the specs listed above and dell makes profit from that; it shouldn't be that hard with some generous companies to get the specs I listed for under $200.
You are all fired. It is obvious that bringing in random people that don't even know what they are going can get at least a D-. Heck, sometimes I don't even show up for class and don't bother studying for the test and I can pull a D+.
If this is true, it means you can purchase a 360 and a revolution for the same price as a PS3, which seems a much better deal than a PS3 alone.
Honestly, the revolution seems gimicky to me, but it will be aweseome if Nintendo can pull it off. I think I'll feel more optimistic once some videos come out of people playing actual games on it. I also wish they were doing HD, maybe at least they will support widescreen 480p. If they pull it off and add widescreen support, I'll pick one up. The 360 looks interesting to me because of the downloadable arcade games and achievements. The only thing that interests me about the PS3 is the better hardware and greater game base, but I don't think that is going to be worth shelling out over 1/2 a grand.
Huh?
I thought the $399 version came with 2 wireless controllers, a harddrive, and HDTV connectors?
Throw in a $60 game and that is much less than $550.
Xbox360 non-gimped version is $399. Seeing as how the PS3 is throwing in blu-ray and better specs, I could see $499 as being somewhat reasonable, but still on the high end. But there is no way I'm paying over $500 for a console. I could get a revolution and a 360 for that price. And who cares if the PS3 has blu-ray? In a couple years (when more than a dozen HD movies are out) dual HD-DVD and blu-ray players will be out, and most TVs only have one HDMI slot.
I keep getting chase banking emails, even though I don't have an account with chase.
The emails say something to the effect of "bla bla, because of recent security issues, you have to reset your password or your account will be closed within 24 hours."
The thing is, these emails I've been getting lately look professional and legit. If I was a grandma or ininformed parent I would have clicked on them and likely have my credit account wiped. The email address states "blabla@chase.com" and even the spoofing address looks legit.
Don't know what we can do about it other than educate people to call their banks and confirm, log onto the banks real address, and not click on any address in an email.
Go to the microsoft website and download the power toys, I believe the program is called Tweak UI. Here you can adjust focus settings and get rid of that stupid yellow balloon that keeps popping up.
I would finally switch to apple if they came out with a mac tablet.
Toms hardware states it is a 20% improvement over the pentium D. That puts it at a 2.4 compared to the pentium D, which is still behind.

Whoops, missed the free upgrade to a 20 inch flat panel widescreen for the dell, so the monitors are about equivalent.

Estimated price $600-700. See the /. blacklog on the ps3. Quote is from a french sony spokesperson.
I'd rather take it with a 20-30g harddrive, no blu-ray, and have it be $200 less.
The samsung i730 pda phone is a great phone without a camera. A little big, and runs windows ce (which could be a - if you're a linux guy), but it is a swiss army knife of phones. It essentially replaced my ipod and gameboy while traveling short places.

Are you a moron? The specs for the PS3 are out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3
The japanese are not too keen on the 360, so history + developers = likely shitty game base.
"Revolution + Xbox360 is greater than the PS3" is what the title was supposed to say, but the symbol got edited out by /.

And you don't need a memory card if you have the harddrive, unless youre swapping saves between different consoles, which is going to be the minority.

Thanks, when he was talking about the dashboard I figured he was confusing his mac or something. Looks like I was the one who was a fool.
Actually, a monster video card (http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sonic_Blue_Diamond_Mo nster_3D) probably wouldn't be a very good choice for oblivion.
the settings file is located under my documents, games, oblivion (or something close to that) regardless of where you have the game installed.
