I don't know how many other countries this is applicable to, but in Denmark, at least, the average age of people graduating from the universities (with the Danish equivalent of an MSc degree) is 29 or so. Presumably they aren't ready to participate in any cutting-edge research of the kind which might land them a Nobel Prize until then.
Of course the corpus of knowledge in any given scientific field increases with time, and thus researchers are forced to spend a lot of time keeping up with things rather than innovating.
Q2 was quite demanding back in the day, too, you know - atleast if you wanted a high level of eyecandy. I remember how there was only one person in my class who could run it properly, so we all gathered at his place (sometimes upwards of ten people or so) just to watch and (maybe!) get a chance to play.
The British post rock band Mogwai did this with their 'Happy Songs for Happy People' album. It contained a demo version of Cubase SX and all the parts of the track 'Hunted By A Freak'.
Glad to see Reznor is making distributing it for free, though.
A Python to Objective-C bridge, which allows for access to Apple's frameworks via Python (and, as for as I know, integration with XCode), has in fact been produced. See: http://pyobjc.sourceforge.net/
Another example of scientific art is this very beautiful animation of some sort of fractal. (Note: Turn down sound volume prior to viewing.)
How will I know if it's actually my computer? Someone could replace it without my knowledge!

Of course the Chemistry prize is granted on a political basis - it totally favours those liberal jerks who believe in the theory of atoms!

Let's see if you are modded up too. And then whether I'm modded up. Oh, the excitement!
Doesn't "Mir" mean peace?
