Since his movie is no documentary, it must be considered a political statement.
Please, point to a documentary that doesn't have a political stance of some type. You can't have documentary without some sort of perspective that someone else will find unfair. Certainly, Moore has his views. However, he does present compelling evidence which he does stand firmly behind.
I agree with you, its unlikely that F9/11 will air on a major network - too risky. But it may land on a cable channel with large viewership.
(and why do you defend a commander-in-chief that takes seven minutes to respond to "sir, the nation is under attack"?)
sure, you're right. The Bush family doesn't have ties with the House of Saud nor are billions of dollars being poured into the pockets of the VP's former company.

I don't think michael moore claims his film to be un-biased. but he does stand by the facts stated in the films. i can't say i've seen a decent rebuttal, and that list of "deceits" doesn't count when most of the items on the list critique moore's tone.
never attribute to malice (or conspiracy) what is adequately explained by stupidity
...as much as i agree with that, should we really define a difference between what is evil through stupidity and what is evil through conspiracy?
I'm not saying that the republicans stole the election in florida. But could they steal it with enough installed Diebold machines? Looks pretty easy to me. Thats not a conspiracy theory - thats Diebold looking for americans to not care how their votes are counted.
Most of what you describe to me above is a long explanation of why we need to be more distrustful of ties between government and business. How can so many people be trustful of a VP that is pouring money into his former company? Perhaps at this point he's not directly benefiting, but i bet he left behind a few friends that are rather well taken care of.
Electing these people simply continues an aggregation of power into the hands of the wealthy.
(I guess I feel your post makes these people look more innocent when from many perspectives they're causing some serious damage in the world.)
When you have your laptop, the most important thing you're doing is hanging onto your laptop. While you're working on it, its always in your sight. When you store it, lock it up and know who has access to the room.
Yes, its that simple. No, a $30 device isn't going to do a better job than active self awareness.
Make backups of data just in case.
The fact is, most people who lose laptops at college are victims of their own stupidity. There are plenty of careless people on a college campus so thieves don't need to extend themselves very far.
Yes, you're right. because comp sci majors don't calibrate their monitors means that people who deal in photography and the arts shouldn't even have the option of including an ICC profile in a graphic.
I personally know plenty of people who have calibrated monitors. (yes, i'm a photographer, i know i'm skewed) but including ICC profiles typically makes images appear better even on uncalibrated devices.
A policy of removing saddam does not mean a policy of invading the country. Simply because we had a plan to do it does not mean that there was an intention to carry out the plan. It was a plan to be used if things worsened in Iraq, which they did not.
um, because the Democrats wouldn't have invaded Iraq? Or lowered taxes for the rich...or reduced our civil liberties...or alienated our allies...or wish to take away women's rights...or had a term with negative job growth.
Better to stick with the evil you know than the evil you don't know.
Not really. Better to kick out evil when you see it after one term rather than re-elect it. Besides, we have a republican congress so you'd just be bringing the system to a halt.
I'm a bit confused....are you saying we SHOULD get rid of gamma info? Thats not the world I live in. More accurately, I prefer to save my images with ICC profile tags. At least then, if people have a properly set up monitor I can be relatively sure they'll see a decent image. JPEG supports this. Yes, the file size will be a bit larger, but what is the point in designing something if you can't show people the accurate end result?
So there would need to be proof that a secularist dictator _didn't_ collaborate with a muslim extremist? If there is evidence that asylum was offered, thats all it is. It can't be extrapolated into something larger. Hell, if Saddam knew about this before, wouldn't they have talked about where bin Laden would hang out ahead of time?
The Bin Laden family gets its money from having close business deals with the Saudi royal family. Thats where Osama's money came from. While the oil barons are rich, many people in the country are poor. They believe we're propping up the rich oil barons - and we are. Thats why nearly all of the hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi. If this is the Saudi's helping prevent terrorism, i hope they don't step up the effort.
It simply doesn't make sense that we'd go after Iraq for nearly ten year old terrorism charges. Hell, most of the items you list there are internal Iraqi problems.
If you still think Iraq had WMDs, fine. But you're very alone - not even Bill O'Reilly believes it anymore.
A lot of university professors these days are borderline socialists so of course they wouldn't care.
Why would a university professor protect the book company's right to make a buck? Particularly on overpriced textbooks that are "updated" every year as to stifle the used book market.
...and of course its only the weird foreign kids that cheat...
god, you believe the "they hate our freedom!" line, don't you?
maybe it has something to do with the fact that we've gotten WAAY to involved in politics in a politically unstable area - mainly because we're addicted to oil the way rush is addicted to oxycotin. the oil supports corrupt governments such as the saudis whom the people hate.
but you have to work within the two party system to change it. at this point, not voting for either side is like throwing away your vote. for instance, if you're against the war but don't vote for kerry, it makes it that much easier for bush to get into power.
If you had read the 9/11 commission report, you would know that despite their mutual distaste for us they never did collaborate. hell, al qaeda has stronger ties with saudi arabia!
name a iraqi sponsored terrorist incident.
bush failed to draw a connection between iraq and al qaeda. there were no wmds. we're there for no reason.
It warms my heart to know that I can post a message to slashdot on company time about a problem I have with a product I own privately and something will come of it.

I've said it a few times now but...
sure, you're right. The Bush family doesn't have ties with the House of Saud nor are billions of dollars being poured into the pockets of the VP's former company.
also, Bush is really from texas...

You can say the same thing about every news organization. Some people like to pick out a particlar network starting with an "f".

No its not. The frontside bus is half the speed. No Firewire 800. Half the total possible RAM.
Not to mention all the other goodies you get with the Powermac G5. PCI slots. Upgradable video. Two hard drive bays. Dual monitor support.
You may have paid nearly a grand more for it a year ago, but you still have more value than the current iMacs.
You properly use the contraction "it's" and you use it twice in the same sentance. This is a record on /..
I am not amused at your attempt to discredit a post merely because of its proper use of grammar!
you could be forced to provide the key to decrypt it. if you don't, you'll be held in contempt of court.
i doubt encoding of your files is protected under the DCMA. You're not a business attempting to protect a revenue stream.

Use pencil and paper, they're cheap!
What kind of origami will lock up my notebook?

Don't forget Clinton and Bosnia.
Doesn't compare to Iraq.
Don't forget Clinton and the DMCA.
Doesn't compare to the Patriot Act
Don't forget Clinton and some of the tax breaks passed during his time in office.
Doesn't compare to the deficit we're running now OR a war that is dumping $$$ into the VP's former company
um, because the Democrats wouldn't have invaded Iraq? Or lowered taxes for the rich...or reduced our civil liberties...or alienated our allies...or wish to take away women's rights...or had a term with negative job growth.
You're right, they're exactly the same.

There is not enough evidence either way.
