Amazon is more aggressive than iTunes though. They collect a lot of info and use it across all of the amazon network. They can probably correlate surfing data from the alexa toolbar with your amazon info etc. And the amazon info is obviously verified with CC purchasing.
Still, profiling sucks, no matter who's doing it.
IE google. Think of all the data they have. I predict person-targeted adsense ads within the year:)
Obvious, they go to where the easy targets are. As a plus: When you infect a computer connected through AOL the chance of discovery and subsequent removal is smaller. How many granny's on AOL run a firewall+spybot+antivirus etc?
Gah, forgot the last sentence. Was supposed to be:
As a side note: I've seen google employees clicking through the submitters URL link, presumably to check it. I don't think there's much point in spamming/. then. But * * Beatles Beatles has submitted some very good stories.

How do you feel about people promoting their pet projects in their sig? Honest question. I see lots of people doing it but I'm not sure if I like it or not (me doing so included).

Would be fun if Slashcode gave you the option of commenting on your moderation with 3 words or so... Though I suppose that would remove some of the brilliance of that simple insightful.
If they care so much about freedom of speech they should buy themselves a domain and hosting (separately). That way they can change DNS info if their host opresses them:), and the registrars have shown they don't care what you do with the domains anyway.
And "Koobox"? Excellent brand name.
Linispire is crap.. They hope to cash in on users hearing more about this Leenoox thing and thinking they should get onboard with an easy to use distro. Hey, it even has a cutesy name.. Woohoo..
Exactly. Linux doesn't automagically mess up your config files. No format and reinstall, ever.

Anyway, I was wondering: could the static/friction-causing ingredient be all the fine dust they pick up combined with the enourmous speeds at the eye?
