MXJ includes MySQL for several OSs (windows, x86, osx, solaris) and installs MySQL automatically. in all it's 130MB jar,/J is just MySQL driver for Java (4MB). Itried searching forums and found this - http://lists.mysql.com/java/9354, someone complaining about missing MXJ.
s3 is primarily geared towards file storage, so probably a good choice for hosting static files, images and CSSs. but what about relational data - hosting real databases. There is no persistent storage in ec2, making any virtual server setup extremely unreliable.
That said, s3 makes sense for dumping things like tier-3 data backups.
All. Sure, the new Zune is more of a half step forward than a completely new design. But Microsoft's done something fantastic here by rewarding first gen buyers with cool new stuff that also happens to be free by software upgrade. And talk about spin-- Microsoft just took a middling jump in hardware and turned it into a genuinely good move for loyalists (as well as a PR miracle). Are you paying attention Apple?
The recommended replacement AJAX api not only has limited applications, but also it promises to show google ads beside the results.
Not that Google Search API has ever been very stable - it probably works only 80% of the time. Now even the support has been dropped and usage samples along with FAQ have been removed for SOAP api.

Seriously, who carries around a Laptop with "Personal Information" of 382 Gazillion living, dead and zombie employees in a fscking Laptop and leaves it in a car unattended.
You would think they would store this information in a so-called safe server somewhere and have policies on not taking them around in Laptops. Why would you need that information on a laptop anyway ? For fsck sake - We're talking about serious personal information!
I say hire stewie to shoot this guy.

I've downloaded it as recently as 2 months back, and found it gone yesterday. The download page at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/mxj/ is empty and mxj connector is no longer listed under connectors - http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/. SQLite aside, MXJ was the easiest way to embed a MySQL database in your (Java) package.

what about splogs(spam blogs). Blogspot represents a pretty reasonable sample of blogs. this random analysis puts splogs at 42% for blogger.com blogs.
