  1. Geekbench is generally known as being pretty bad.

  2. I wondered that also, but while they're synonymous with Linux they also have a pretty wide variety of other open source products - e.g. JBoss

Red Hat has been one of the biggest contributors in the open source ecosystem for a very long time. For the kernel in particular consider unlike many of the other major contributors they are not writing code to supporting their own hardware.

If they legally possess the server code they probably already have permission from the publisher to ignore digital locks?

  9. I wonder what actually allows the ad to claim to be www.google.com? Does Google have an open redirect URL somewhere? Is not specifying the final host a legitimate usage for an ad?

  10. I read an article in the last year or two about landline subsidization, the article made the argument that unlike the initial roll out of telephone, or the electrical grid where well-off people in cities subsidized the roll out to the rural poor, the current situation is generally flipped and the poor now live in cities, or towns and subsidize the well-off living in rural areas. I don't know how true this is but its something we ought to consider and not blindly point at a similar project from an entirely different era.

  16. I don't believe they did - recall they tried and failed to launch a social network (Ping), they also tried and failed at advertising with iAd. Articles also suggest that Apple is trying again at their hand at advertising. They also collect telemetry, have a record of every purchase you make on their devices, and if you're dumb enough from stores when you use Apple Pay

Apple is also often misleading in their messaging about data encryption (hint data being encrypted when Apple has the keys is moot).

I think you're confused, agile doesn't say anything about when software should be released. Its about taking on bite-sized chunks instead of trying to tackle the entire universe at once. Continuous delivery is likely the source of your complaint as its about pushing shit out the door frequently which makes it a lot more difficult to do in-depth testing due to time constraints.

  24. App compatibility is so bad that Windows still has a "Program Files" folder and a "Program Files (x86)" folder.

What are you even complaining about here? That Microsoft supports customers instead of shitting on them?
