I think there are two problems, the first being the press does not understand science - and hence run stories about wine being great for you without the understanding that the chemical mentioned is present in such minute quantities as to be irrelevant.
The second issue is that a lot of the public (and hence the press) does not differentiate between proper research and published books or perceived authorities (fuck you Dr Oz and Dr Phil) espousing bullshit.
In summary - one part snake oil, one part losing nuance.
The canonical developer said that users don't care which I think is pretty accurate. The majority of users won't care as long as applications run and are responsive.
Seems like this would be an education issue not a hiring issue. e.g. are there really a lot of underemployed / unemployed black or hispanics with CS degrees?
I suspect the tech industry has a high percentage of minorities due to Indians and other Asians ethnicity.
I tried to use Android Studio a few times in the early days but could never get it to launch. Failed with non-helpful errors and none of the solutions
Full disclosure - I'm an inactive Eclipse committer so while one might argue I have a dog in the race I should also be competent enough to get it to run!
Are DNS entries really indicative of cheating? It doesn't necessarily follow that someone who has viewed a site about cheating is actually cheating. And now that it is known, it is virtually guaranteed that anyone actually cheating will simply use a secondary PC to surf the sites.
Its almost like there is a concerted campaign this month against Android openness - or are journalists seeing buzz around earlier stories and creating more link bait? I think this article and the others all demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of the open source world.
There is more than one model, while there are entirely open projects like the Linux kernel, there are also a great many projects with both open and proprietary components. See MySQL, JBoss, Glassfish, Solaris, ExtJS, Nexus, etc., all of these projects are completely functional products but the companies provide additional functionality for profit.
Android code is available under an OSI license, the code comprises a complete functional product (assuming device drivers, but that isn't Google's responsibility). The Open Source world is driven by contributing back, not by getting everything on a silver platter for free.
To me the git integrations in IDEs have never felt quite right, CVS and SVN were great but something doesn't quite fit for the git workflow so I still use cli/gitk/gui 4-years later.
If network access isn't required then all of these PoS attacks are either inside jobs or involve break-ins which hasn't been indicated for any of them.
There is an easy solution to this problem - don't put point of sale systems on a network with external access. At the minimum one should limit the network addresses these systems are allowed to access.
I wonder if there is a correlation with the rise of the Facebook mobile applications and a decline in people searching for Facebook. My previous experience has been that a big segment of people don't differentiate between searching for something and visiting the URl directly.
I mean really, what can they possibly hope to gain? Without the buses there would be many more cars on the road, or these people would move and local businesses would lose out on the disposable income.
Seriously, there is no Nobel prize in economics. There is however a prize setup by the Swedish bank hijacking the prestige of real Nobel laureates. Further members of the Nobel family have spoken out against it.

Meant to say... this is why the hero moniker isn't completely out of place.
I'd say he's sacrificed more than most whistleblowers as he no longer has the opportunity to live a normal life.
Sure, but then you have the Microsoft Bing ad/spyware.
Light match. Its the same plan we all have.
Nothing. They suckered a bunch of people on Kickstarter with a game console based on Android
The 80s called. They want to party like its 1999.

Actually a higher income bracket often comes with a higher % as well.
Lets be honest here, a pretty significant part of university expenses is not teaching its research. Why should former students be paying for research?
The summary describes why this isn't necessary - college graduates make more money. This means they already pay more taxes.

Though in this instance by the slides the DEA isn't even informing the prosecutor, they're hiding it from everyone even other officers.
Shame it isn't televised, the general population might notice.

Now you have hundreds more cars on the roads.

I have no idea who any of these posters are but the PR person's posts certainly have all the hallmarks of a scammer.

Its more than gaming, any movement (i.e. your mouse pointer, scrolling) will appear to be choppy.
Is just painful for use as a monitor as far as I've heard.
