I've seen many folk doing similar projects... and to run into one I just have to look into the mirror in the morning. I purchased a beat-up old Double Dragon box and began turning it into my own personal MAME box. I also began buying up boards in order to run the games I wanted legally, many times boards that were too damaged to actually run. I just sank $500 into a brand-new 19" monitor for my box, so I am thrilled seeing a similar project get the recognition. My hat goes off to you.
Microsoft, supporting a company that is targeting their #1 enemy? Possibly damaging the reputation of the major force capable of deposing them from their perch as the #1 OS providor?
No, I just can't believe it, Microsoft wouldn't do anything like that, would they?
they get some nutjob speaking in a bad australian accent saying some nonsence word constantly to grab ahold of deadly substances with his bare hand, thereby giving the audience a false sence of danger and excitement.
FreeBSD always was one of the more favorite OS's for me to play with. Always strong, never unresponsive, even back in the day it always stood up for being an honest and robust system. Thanks to it's ports system, it was a breeze to keep going. I guess that's why I still keep my old FreeBSD 3.0 CD around here, for memories.
I hate that none of these services allow me to play the tunes I have purchased where I wish to!
If I buy a tape, I am allowed to burn myself a CD from it in order to play it in my computer. But I am not allowed to convert these files to, say, mp3 so that I can play them in my car.
As soon as one of these services is not so draconian with their DRM, I will join them.
Yup, the oldest machine I run with is a Commodore VIC-20. Now, this is not my central machine, nor even my primary machine, but it is on the LAN, and I do some basic stuff with it, primarily term into my server to do config, IRC, even text-only web browsing.
After that is an Amiga 1000, still in heavy use, then my Duron-650, then my Pegasos.
Even if no source actually leaked, they now have thousands of Linux geeks scouring warez sites, kazaa, etc for the code. If any code had leaked, they'd find out by following them using the RIAA's anti-kazaa tools.
Ya know, I was only joking with my friends that it is only a matter of time before someone proposes the return of the application disk. Amazing how fast things like this happen.
What would be neat is for someone to do the same thing to boot straight into Open Office, ideal for a diskless network workstation for an office, wouldn't you think? A kernel totally optimized for word processing in the system's CD-ROM. No concerns about your staff playing Q3A when you're not looking.
I know scientists have followed human migratory habits over the land bridge, primarily using artifacts like arrow heads or old campsites to track it, but animal migration I've never heard much of before. Very facinating to read.
This is the best arguement yet for an alternative computing solution, such as Linux, MacOS X or MorphOS. The RIAA's anti-Kazaa suits can't attack you, since you are unable to run Kazaa. It's like when my step-brother was arrested for drunk driving when he wasn't in a car. (the cops saw a drunk driver, persued, lost them, then found my step-bro passed out on a bench next to a car that looked similar)
Not quite. There is nothing "Amiga" about this board other than the name. But, for an embedded Linux box, it seems decent. But, I would sooner go for the Pegasos 2 and pay a fraction of the cost.

when my computer does a power-down, if it were an AI, would that be considered suicide?
The sheer magnitude of what will happen when AI does arrive is mind-boggling.
Of course you know what I fear more is when I yell at my computer that it yells back.
And if Microsoft does the OS for the AI's, does this mean that every so often they fall over with seizures as their computer does a BSOD?

excuse me for a moment, but WHAT?!?!?!?
I agree 100%! Beakman rocked!
Anyone for a game to help get rid of fear of commitment issues?

It worked for Animal Planet.
Huh?
You've lost me there, what does a FreeBSD CD have to do with the GPL?

home-made. Pulls music over the WiFi from the house.
Actuall I'd just read the thing about Napster right before this, so I have a bit of baggage from that tagging along.

Break into the labs and use this baby to run some RC5 cracks! My team will be unstoppable!
This is sad indeed, an icon turned into another way to sell the same garbage that's been pushed on us for years.
Ah well, back to my indie music.

Next thing you know, prosecutors and corrupt police officers will be planting PalmPilots instead of pistols on folk to get harsher jail sentances.
"Your honor, not only did this man murder his wife, he has an AOL account!"
"hang him then fry him"

If a bionic, enhanced limb is availible, what happens when someone goes to jail? You can't just lop off the mans arm, can you?

That's always my link, so as to show support for my employer.
As for the Peg 2, if you were keeping up, it's public debut is on October 15th. Please read more here for it's release. Thank you.

This makes me less than comfortable, honestly. Being from florida, I almost miss the hanging chads. 8)

PowerVR is the best solution for that segment. There's even the way to incorporate it's core alongside an ARM processor inside a single chip.
