The artists, the authors, the guys that do the work. The record companies deserve to make a buck, but it's become nothing but a scam, a giant pyramid scheme. You "opt in" and you can't get out, if you're a recording artist or a writer.
I think what the record companies fear the most is not the P2P swappers, but that some unknown, unsigned band will step up, and thanks to P2P swapping, outsell EVERYTHING the record companies produce, thereby rendering them worthless. In the P2P environment we have today, it is not only possible, it is inevitable.
was my hotel roomate at the AmiWest show at the end of July. Kermit is a fun guy indeed. If you think the Atari case mod was bad enough, you should have seen what he did with an Amiga 1000, or even more interesting what he has planned for the near-future.
We are working with a potential retailer for new zealand, but if that falls through, our australian distributor has already stated that he would support any NZ customers.
The revision 1.0a boards are sold out. Revision 2 is slated for unveiling in a matter of weeks, with sales to resume shortly afterwards. Rev 2 upgrades the RAM to DDR, adds gigabit ethernet, and a few other nicities.
You also neglect to pay attention to other aspects of that site.
While yes, Apple's implimentation of Open Firmware is Apple's and Apple's alone, other versions of Open Firmware do exist, and following the OF spec, an OS that runs on OF runs on all flavors pretty much the same.
The Pegasos comes with it's own OF, called SmartFirmware, and it runs quite nicely.
SCO has committed the most vile of sin. They not only created FUD, not only stole our source code, not only tried to steal our limelight, but they revealed that we used ANCIENT BSD CODE!
This is utterly rediculous. Think for a moment, water cooling, ok, sure, but what happens *NEXT*. Intel keeps pushing CPU's, AMD follows suit, they get so hot that water cooling doesn't do it anymore... what will they do next, liquid nitrogen?!?
Come on, ya won the speed war, now turn down the oven, PLEASE!
This might sound silly, but I actually built such a rig. Melted the fins in a matter of a few minutes, but also produced huge torque and HP for the few minutes it ran. I'm planning on building another rig, using more heat-resistant materials, this fall.
nVidia starts warming up to non-Microsoft OS's (see Mac OS X, the binary drivers for Linux, some discussions of opening up docs, etc) then Microsoft offers them a spot on the XBox. Suddenly, top-end support for getting their chipset used elsewhere seems to evaporate. By this time, nVidia is pretty much an also-ran on other platforms, support is horrid and people are fleeing to ATI.
Now, Microsoft buddy-buddies up to ATI, promices big contract. How long before ATI's non-M$ efforts start becoming lackluster, and support is dropped?
I can see it now! It's got action! It's got Drama! It's got this hot, sexy half-naked female co-star! Throw in some young stud like Vin Deisel as Otzi, and we've got a surefire winner!
Alright, who's with me to bid on the movie rights?
Does this apply to all Linux 2.4 kernels or just specific ones? Don't forget, the PPC version was forked from the main tree awhile ago, as have the microkernel versions and some other forks. Which, specific, 2.4 trees are SCO discussing here?
What I'm concerned about is Jens CommodoreONE project. First new-Commodore hardware in ages, and I have this feeling that Tulip is going to squish her, for nothing other than keeping their brand name alive.
I'm actually looking forward to this. Sound corny, but I'm curious to actually witness what they've done. Sure, I loved the 70's show, but I'm not so foolish as to think that it is a golden goose. I see potential in this interpretation, even with the less-than-folklore aspect in comparison to the original. I see strong actors, a good plot, and most of all, a far grittier template to work from.
The only thing I've read that I'm less than thrilled about is the sex. I'm sick of sex in sci-fi. I don't want to see Ripley's underwear. I don't want to see the vulcan chick get jelled-up. I don't want to see Baltar getting a hummer from a damned inflatadate!

I am moving to Canada!
Their news isn't filled with violence.
They have more guns per person than the US yet have less homicides per 1000 people.
They have a health care system that works.
Their educational system is one of the best.
Why the hell would I stay in the US?
"O Canada..." 8)

I wonder if this problem exists in my Open Firmware based Pegasos machine.
Anybody know of a geek like us with a few hundred thousand they're willing to blow on a rapid buildup for the x-prize?
If so, let me know. If I could find a backer, I have a plan. downes_n@REMOVESPAMMENOWbellsouth.net
Type Writer, isn't that an old Commodore 64 word processor?
Yes, MOL works, and works quite nicely.
But I don't have Mac OSX, so I use it to run BeOS.
To be specific, it's 299 euro, which brings it to just over $300. No, not $499 anymore.

It retails for $299.

As I happen to work for Genesi, I might be able to best answer this question:
The Pegasos comes with Open Firmware, yes.

What about the Linux kernels for embedded machines, which lack the code for MP support entirely?
There is, of course, a simple fix that will not require changing your software in most likelihood:
Replace Linux with Hurd.
Linux remains *just* the kernel, the OS remains GNU.
But would GNU have enough money to pull it off?
Does this apply to all Linux 2.4 kernels or just specific ones? Don't forget, the PPC version was forked from the main tree awhile ago, as have the microkernel versions and some other forks. Which, specific, 2.4 trees are SCO discussing here?
I happen to own an Atari 600XL, a weaker version of the 800. A truely amazing machine.
I've got enough here to get a station going. Time to make a windows client and go for it.
