    No, it's just Sony trying to maximize profits in order to please the shareholders. Biggest source of expense in a company is usually payroll.

    I'm going to hang out with those Mexican guys on the street corner, and go pick berries in a field for minimum wage for 8 hours a shift. Thanks to Beloved Leader Kim-Jong-Chavez, I now get 15 minutes off, twice a day, and an extra 15 minutes for lunch!

    And you will be able to do this too as soon as your employer hires the H1-B worker to replace you for half your salary!

    They can do it the same way I cope when my power goes off... A cheep battery operated shortwave radio tuned to the BBC or other quality station. IMHO, I'm pretty sure if they can't get access to a TV then what chances do they have at getting the internet?

    My best friend's dad fields a Bush series race car. A couple of years ago he told me he needs at least 50k a race from a sponsor (teams in Bush and Winston Cup spend at least 10k a race on tires). I wonder if any teams have approached Red Hat or simular large Linux companies for sponsorship for even one big race?

    That is far from the truth. While they do use Windows CE terminals for some tracking, most of the the other stuff is Solaris. Weather, some scanning processing, and avation (ramp managment, flight tracking, ect) to name but a few applications that run on Sun boxes. I know I support the stuff.

    The Fortune 50 company I work for runs Sun Solaris on Sun hardware because it has a proven lower total cost of ownership, and also has proven to be more reliable than the Linux solutions we have tried.
