As long as it doesn't display ads on my own music I rip, I think this is a very good idea. A way to get free music to listen to while "paying" for it at the same time. Just hope that format is of decent quality.
Yes I realize this. We actually could get the $25 a copy. But my point was that $0 $25. Don't matter, we will end up with the Star Office instead just because of the Sun support we would get with it.
Working at a large Sun shop we have been evaluating Star Office 6, but even at a cheep $76 a copy price it still gets expensive when you are talking about 1000+ licences. Open Office 1.0 is looking like a better deal everyday.
I work for a large transportation airline. We are a large Sun shop. We are currently looking at switching over to Sun Office 6.0. Our software costs shold be dramatically reduced while maintaining MS office "compatibility". The compatibility issues seem to be the biggest factors we are addressing at this time.
The newer Ogg codec is really good. Much better to my ear than my mp3's. That player for the Sharp isn't bad either, interface could use some tweaking but sounds great.
I have my apartment # in my SSID on my wireless AP so people "Netstumbling" can come and chat with me. No takers yet. Yes I am using WEP so that actually have to come see me if they want access.
I just got an email from Sharp. Looks like they are getting ready to sell (in limited amount) the ARM based Linux PDA with the built in keyboard real soon. I hope I can get one, if I do I'll give an exclusive/. review!
* JavaOne Promotion Update -
Those of you who were among the first 1,000 that 1) had your badge scanned at JavaOne and 2) registered on the developer web-site are eligible to purchase a Sharp Linux/Java PDA production unit for $399 (or equivalent price outside the US) when it is available (availability of initial model is limited in some European countries, due to the product safety standard
compliance.)
We originally promised production units for this promotion would be available in September. Some exciting additions and changes to our platform have unfortunately caused some delays. We apologize for the delay in satisfying this promotion, but think a few weeks more will be worth the wait.
The phrase "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." I know it's a bad analogy but encryption is a tool. A few bad apples hopefully won't ruin the whole bunch. Please let your Govt. reps. know how you feel!
I still have nightmares about Time Warner calling to schedule my mandatory AOL install.
The name is Dumass!

It's good to see people who are making a difference in the open source world and not just criticize it!

It learns eveything it has to by downloading code (va USB) and visiting the Harmony website.
This has "CueCat" written all over it!
Now hack away, hack away, hack away all!
Sometimes it seems that the better looking these games are graphically the worse their gameplay is.
Sometimes eyecandy isnt all it's cracked up to be.
How will Creative Commons affect the GPL or better yet how will the GPL affect Creative Commons?
Ford do something wrong?
BTW, i have a nice set of Firestone tires that came new on my Explorer to sell.
I got a Geforce4 card. Kinda nice but my old Radeon seems to work a little better in FreeBSD 5.0 dp1.
VOTE!
intead of donating spare cpu cycles, you donate spare 'think cycles.'
This is such a great idea, but why not also donate the use of spare CPU cycles also! Why not use this "open source ethos" for CPU power as well?

Any attempt at silencing freedom of speech is a BAD idea!
This is incredible!
You know the source would leak out. Maybe someone could steal a copy and give it to Linus so he could fix it!
I still enjoy my Atari 800!
I know some colleges still teach Pascal in their "Intro to Programming" classes. I know thats what i learned on.

I started programming in '79 when I was 11 years old on my Atari 800.
Some good use of bandwidth!
