I'm going to hang out with those Mexican guys on the street corner, and go pick berries in a field for minimum wage for 8 hours a shift. Thanks to Beloved Leader Kim-Jong-Chavez, I now get 15 minutes off, twice a day, and an extra 15 minutes for lunch!
And you will be able to do this too as soon as your employer hires the H1-B worker to replace you for half your salary!
the Internet is going to be the primary news source for many millions of people, particularly those without access to a quality television news service. How will / can it cope?"
They can do it the same way I cope when my power goes off... A cheep battery operated shortwave radio tuned to the BBC or other quality station. IMHO, I'm pretty sure if they can't get access to a TV then what chances do they have at getting the internet?
My best friend's dad fields a Bush series race car. A couple of years ago he told me he needs at least 50k a race from a sponsor (teams in Bush and Winston Cup spend at least 10k a race on tires). I wonder if any teams have approached Red Hat or simular large Linux companies for sponsorship for even one big race?
That is far from the truth. While they do use Windows CE terminals for some tracking, most of the the other stuff is Solaris. Weather, some scanning processing, and avation (ramp managment, flight tracking, ect) to name but a few applications that run on Sun boxes. I know I support the stuff.
I don't think this will last. It has Circuit City's Divix written all over it. I'd hate to take 23 hours to download "Lord of the Rings" over dialup only to find out I have one hour left in which to watch it.
The Fortune 50 company I work for runs Sun Solaris on Sun hardware because it has a proven lower total cost of ownership, and also has proven to be more reliable than the Linux solutions we have tried.
Thank you Mr. Boucher.
Makes me feel good to be from SW Virginia!
No, it's just Sony trying to maximize profits in order to please the shareholders. Biggest source of expense in a company is usually payroll.
Of me running around screaming...
"AHHHHH! Not the Gold Draggon!!"
Just stick $200 to the price of that thing and get a full featured laptop.
One reason Dell is gaining so much ground in the PDA market right now is PRICE.

I am still trying to track down the elusive CowboyNeal costume. I was going to go as CmdrTaco, but I just wanna scare the kids, not make 'em cry. :)
Even better is THIS.
Here is what it looks like. More pics and info can be found here (warning - page is in japanese).
I'll get one for sure when they hit the States!
"I don't know, he looks pretty hungry. Here, give him some booze."
Heh, you must be from Massachusetts.

If you ever get a FedEx package, thank Solaris for helping it to get to you.
It is ok for some small stuff, but at $449 for the enterprise edition it isnt that good. I am still looking for a open source solution.
She could always use a color FIGlet and output to a printer. ;-)
Maybe there are some lessons we in the States can learn from our European friends!

Who says Linux is dead on the desktop? ;-)
I DO!
There better be Guinness in those kegs for that kind of money!
But seriously, what exactly are they using that money for? I could not find anything on the website. Hope it is worthwhile.
So not only will we get better displays for out PDAs and laptops, but then they can be charged a bit while off.
Time Warner will be getting their digital cable box back too. Hitting these guys in the pocketbook is your only way to get a message to them.
I have since emailed Roxio and let them know I will no longer be a customer!
Seems the only way these types will listen is if you hit them in the pocketbook.
