This topic has been done many times everywhere, but I figure i'd bring it up.... who think it's going to be the ps2 killer?
Personally, i own a ps2 and i'm afraid. MS may bring out crappy products but historically their crappy products come with good brainwashing type of marketing that usually kills competition. I hope there will be an X-box emulator for my PS2 (unfortunately).
Yes this is a shameless ad for the company that I work for, but that's what this Ask Slashdot is pretty much inviting.
Take a look at http://www.jurock.com/ if you are looking for Real Estate in British Columbia, Canada. We've got thousands of current listings as well as lots of other Real Estate realted goodies.
Don't be so sure of that. I believe some night vision technology is based on picking up IR radiation, and I'm quite sure that you can see things more than 100 yards away with that type of equipment.
You gotta check out the 0.9 builds, they for the first time feel as fast as IE or Netscape.
There appears to be a HUGE speed increase over 0.8x builds.
Check it out first, you might be surprised.
Having just been there last week, I can say that technologically speaking they are eons ahead of Canada if not North America. I see WAP phones everywhere (eg Motorola Accompli A6188), their bank machines scan money without the need for envelopes, incredibly dense population yet the cellular networks work great, even in the MTR tunnels. If anything, China is learning from them, in cities such as Shenzheng just outside of Hong Kong. Definately, not the other way around.
My MPTrip arrived last week after about 3 weeks of waiting, and as most people have said - it basically works and is probably the cheapest MP3 player on the market at $115.
I've only used it with CD-RW's and have not had any of the problems people have been talking about... all written with Nero on my Yamaha 6414S burner.
My only beefs with it are that it doesn't show ID3 tags and it feels kinda plasticy, otherwise it's the best bang for your buck you can get for portable digi-music.
Your setup is is soooooo overkill. I only recently upgrade to a P75 with 32 megs of RAM as my firewall, only because my old 486DX33 with 16megs wasn't Y2K compliant. It runs IPMasq, Samba, FSGS server and webserver. It doesn't even sweat.
1) If you have a important server, install a UPS with autoshutdown software - regardlress of UPS or not.
2) Take a course or learn some more about XP before using it on a important data. You can in fact do NTFS recoveries with checkdsk.
As long as it stays, I don't mind too much advertising. Just don't make me use another search engine.

X-Mame!
What am I don't to do with my Intel microscope?
I will work on the Fido GSM network, and eventually the AT&T GSM network.
Who here uses MSN messenger anyway? I use ICQ and LICQ. Just another reason to stay away from MS products/services, people will realize this one day.

Redundancy is ALWAYS good. Kinda like RAID systems, but with space travel.

There are a gazillion of other taxes to deal with, gas taxes, liquortaxes, GST, PST, Air Care to name a few.
I pretty much have to pay a minimum of 7% on top of everything I purchase with my after 43.35% taxed dollars up to 14%, depending on what goods I buy.
60% tax rate in Canada is NOT niave, you're being niave in think that income tax is all they take.

I guess this 200 user OS can only handle 200 users. But as soon as the 201 first user comes around, it's gone. Slashdot effect at it's best.
