Solaris is dying, but it's because of the hardware. The "big iron" sparc hardware is simply obsolete. Paying tens of thousands of dollars for a 2ghz sparc system is looking less and less attractive. Solaris x86, of course, cannot compete with Linux.
AIX is still relevant due to the great LPAR virtualization and great POWER hardware. Nothing from HP or Sun comes close.
While I am sure you are right, if "empathy" in politics lead to censorship, war, torture, and injustice -- I think I will stick to Dr. Paul's libertarianism.
I don't understand why people are so obsessed with using Adult stem cells.
Correct me if I am wrong, but using Adult stem cells seems to have the same ethical problems as embryonic ones. Adult stem cells are only useful if they are modified to become Totipotent [wikipedia.org]. Which means -- like an embryo -- they have the ability to turn into a human.
Don't using Adult stem cells have the same ethical implications as embryonic stem cells? If not, then what is the ethical argument against killing an embryo?

I never understood why anti-abortion advocates like Adult stem cells so much; unless, of course, they are basing their argument on emotion instead of reason.
Flash for Linux doesn't support all the features, and used to be several versions behind. Silverlight is not even really out, and we already have a promising linux client.
I would rather have a good open-source client to silverlight than an official closed-source one that was not well supported (like flash).
Not strictly a phone, but the nokia n800 has the best portable web I have experienced. 800x480 resolution combined with Opera works great for everything, including AJAX applications such as gmail.
From TFA: So far, this is simply a nice set of command line tools that allow you to easily do things like install an icon to Gnome or KDE in one simple step.
This is not some huge mega library. The source files for the xdg-utils is only 280k.
This is in no way, shape, or form a bad thing for users
"High brow" games already exist, they are the classic games that are referenced and well-loved in the gaming culture. Think of the combat system in TIE Fighter, the great level design in the quake series, the graphic design in Super Mario Brothers, the critical success of the multilayer in Battlefield 1942 and Tribes, or the amusing antics of Sam and Max. All of these games are "high brow" within the game industry; they innovated concepts or established their genre.
There are plenty of ways to critically judge games without "intellectual" references to other mediums. Whenever a game is fondly remembered and still played 10 years after it was made, then it has probably reached "high brow" status.
We all know that poorly drawn icons allow easier navigation for children. A kid could never understand a straight arrow, but add a few squiggles and your ready to go! Also be sure to make all the icons have incorrect depth, because we all know kids can't REALLY see in 3d.
Despite being called a tablet, this device looks like an awesome pda.
1) Almost completely open source desktop enviroment and very standard. Linux, debian, X11.
2) Wifi b/g and bluetooth
3) Very high res screen. 800x480
4) It can run gaim and SDL, enough said.
I might get one.

Before he was running for president, Ron Paul impressed me with his arguments against banning online gambling: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6b7_h_OyTI0

Not officially, but the mono team has already created a silverlight client for linux.

Neither is Government.
I have started to see some things that even some Slashdotters find a little confusing, like the whole Iceweasel thing.
As opposed to Microsoft, which lets you use their Internet Explorer trademark?

Yes, I was very confused that it comes with opera instead of webcore. After all nokia is the one that ported webcore/khtml to gtk in the first place!

Let me guess, you wear one and eat the other?
If I am reading the forum link correctly, it sounds like you are using OpenGL, SDL, and OpenAL. It should be trivial to port your software to linux.
:)
I recomend you do it yourself
The DSL in my area costs 15$ a month, cable costs more than twice as much. Needless to say, I have DSL. Not everyone wants or needs cable tv.
I am still trying to figure out why apple is letting tigerdirect make its operating system. :(

I think I speak for all linux users when I say: Thank you Microsoft!
There is a similar project for Toshiba pdas. http://www.mnementh.co.uk/eseries/
I heard she is expensive though.
