  1. Where is solidariety? on TrekUnited Reports Mission Successful at Trek Rallies · · Score: 1

Might I add that it seems weird to me that right frome here, slashdot, the place where nerds (what people think as nerds) are, a lot of bashing goes to Enterprise, another place where what people think as nerds, are. BTW, I like Trek for the message of a better future, of a place where there's hope, where each individual can make the difference. This is a good TV program to let your kids view.

Or is M$ really flooding the media with a lot of their fantasies? also, they are not very funny any more...

  3. Re:RDS support? on RadioShark for Windows and Mac OS X · · Score: 1

I remember reading in my car audio equipment manual, that in the US they don't have RDS.
As well as they don't have Teletext yet IIRC.
But then we don't have CloseCaptions. We just developed different ways of doing things sometimes. And I like this.

I got your point here about buying the 8 gauge cable, and you know what?
I just didn't think of triyng a sligtly better cable: I dropped the bad cable I had and went straight into an expensive one. Me stupid!

  5. Re:Hmmm, go wired! on Multi-Room Wireless Sound System? · · Score: 1

    No expectation bias here.
I had a quite expensive Bose acoustimass system, powered by a ClassA Technics 150W power amplifier. Yet, I had to run for -what- tem meters of cable running from the floor to the ceiling and to the floor again, so I noticed the difference when switching from a small diameter thing to a bigger diameter, better copper quality cable, along with changing the patchcords from the equipment to the amplifier.

  6. Re:Hmmm, go wired! on Multi-Room Wireless Sound System? · · Score: 1

Sorry, guys, about this Monster Cable heat I made, but it was unintentional:
    Let me explain.
I used to have a quite nice home sound system, but with standard cables (running for several meters around). Then I switched to some more expansive (somebody pointed them out to me) and presumably better cables, and I actually heard the difference. That's all.

  7. Re:Hmmm, go wired! on Multi-Room Wireless Sound System? · · Score: 1

" You had me all the way up to Monster Cable. [Shudder] You're falling for a lot of marketing hype." I used MonsterCable as a recognized brand of good quality sound cables. No marketing here. Heck, I also left out the hyperlink thing ! :-)

Sorry to have to tell this obvious thing, but I truly believe that opinions do matter, and Cliff, by writing here, probably expected comments (along with suggestions). You'll find that a lot of people agrees about my thoughts, and also will add considerations on tech implications of going wireless.

  9. Hmmm, go wired! on Multi-Room Wireless Sound System? · · Score: 4, Interesting

Well, if you are serious about sound, you really should go for wired solutions. If you can't go for wires, then you should consider some good (and expensive) wireless sound speakers. If you -finally- are just thinking of PC-like sounds, well, I think I can't help. Sorry. PS: I'd stress you to go for the wired solutions. And wire the speakers with MonsterCable or similar. drop the cheap car-audio stuff. Ciao!

  10. Multi-platform, eh? on Ubisoft to Publish Puzzle Pirates · · Score: 2, Informative

Strange, I just finished reading the 8-pages comments about Mac VS Wintel, where someone stated that good games don't get published simultaneously for PC and ;ac, and then we read that this new game is published at the same time for PC, Mac and Linux. Good!

A-ha! So nobody recalls the Mac original name here? LOL, I didn't think of the audio products. I *love* those amplifiers.

Well, I think that the standard PC now have something like a 16-buttons--three-weels--four side-buttons mouse. Wait, I do have a graphic tablet with four buttons, but this doesn't count, I think.

  14. Nah! Let's try something better... on Mac mini to PC Hack · · Score: 5, Funny

Well, fun would be in hiding a McIntosh motherboard inside an nonymous PC case. Now, *that* would puzzle the standard user. "Hey, how may I lower-right-side-button double-click with this mouse?" ;-)

  15. it seems good news on NASA Prepares for Space Rescues · · Score: 2, Interesting

So, they assume that somehow troubles in space can be solved with a rescue mission. This is good. I think people is more incline to think that space troubles are disastrous.

  16. Just to add another platform ... on Why Apple Makes a One-Button Mouse · · Score: 1

Now, you didn't expect this. I use an Atari computer, and it is shipped with a two buttons mouse, but on the standard applications, right button is almost unused. Yet, working speed is twice faster than with PC using a 4-button mouse. WHY? Because it is the USER INTERFACE that does its job. It is a good design that leads the user to get benefits. I like the weel, though.

I was thinking the exact same thing: I like dedicated devices, and this Bill guy in the last year stated tons of times that the world is going towards integration. Well, lucky me that I am not the world. And by the way, I wouldn't ever, NEVER, go for an integrated toothbrush-toaster-phone-videogameconsole-clock-ca r from Micro$oft ;-) I don't even like to use my phone's camera, go figure.
