I don't think you can lay the "twitterism" on too thick. He's pretty "thick" as it is (and I am not referring to his intelligence, merely that I don't think you can get any more twitter-like than he is)
You say that because you've never seen a virus or trojan on your PC, it's just because you didn't detect it.
Why does this particular perspective only apply to Windows? Why is it never said that if you've never seen a virus or trojan on Linux that it's because you never detected it?
(Actually, quite amusingly, the comment below me says exactly that. Go him or her!)
You probably wont believe this, but he posts anonymously because Anonymous Coward has a starting score (0) higher than all of his 15-20 other Slashdot accounts.
Personally, I strongly disagree with the whole FLOSS vs Commercial debate (I also disagree with describing FLOSS as "free", but that's another story and mostly related to my pedantic usage of proper English). If something that's "free-libre" happens to do the job you want it for better than commercial alternatives, do it. If something commercial is better, use that.
Why don't the zealots just let us use whatever the fuck we want? I happen to like Windows. I also like Mac OS. Hell, I even like Linux. Of course, because I said I happen to like Windows, people like twitter would have you believe that I am paid by Microsoft. Hell, I wish I were - they'd pay more than my real employer.
If Microsoft really wanted to release source in a way that is useful for the community, then they would be compatible with the GPL or would simply use the unmodified GPL.
Oh bullshit. Something doesn't have to be GPL to be useful for the community - take FreeBSD for instance. Demons, GPL zealots are as bad as Apple zealots!
It would suck, because the IR port on a standard "smartphone" is just too weak and focused. The Harmony Remote works because it's equipped with the equivalent of IR "blasters" - it fires extremely powerful IR bursts in every direction that remotely resembles "in front of the remote".
Oh I'm well aware of that... but the antics of the Three Big Addon Sites are pretty sleazy anyway - the chances of getting them to remove your stuff based on their past performance is near impossible.
You can't remove your content from those sites - they have a bad habit of occasionally looking around to find new addons and adding them to your site themselves. If you complain about it, then screw you.
You know, I don't think they'll be putting ads in World of Warcraft any time soon. The games on the Battle.net platform which they don't field a monthly subscription from (Starcraft II, etc) are the candidates for this.
Actually, Vista and later are able to support EFI already. I'm not sure whether XP or Vista was the first to support the new GUID Partition Tables as well which are slowly replacing MBRs.
Actually, Apple has a bad habit of giving you... you guessed it... Apple labels with every purchase of anything. Technically, any PC can be Apple labelled just using the stickers they keep giving you.
Now, personally, I think this sends the right message - which is if you screw with the federal government, they will in turn, screw you far worse.
You know that if that's the message it sends, then by definition this law is being used to single out a group of individuals right? I don't agree with them getting bonuses, but I certainly don't agree with the government throwing laws, checks and balances to the wind to penalise them for it.
Sounds like Dreamhost or some other equally terrifying overseller.
You do realise that your host hasn't actually got capacity to deliver you 2.5 terabytes right? If you actually managed to transfer that, they'd mysteriously find some way to terminate your account, because they count on you buying "2.5 terabytes" and using 250 megabytes. If everyone actually used 2.5 terabytes, the host would be bankrupted by the end of month invoice from their upstream provider.
Sorry, I meant that you don't need Firebug because the built in tools serve the need quite well, not that you don't need Firebug because you don't need it.
And you are definitely correct that the barrier to entry is higher - the COM development necessary to scrounge together an IE addin is quite immense, while I imagine XPCOM is much easier.
No, it's because the 64 bit version has to install the 32 bit version as well. Possibly in case you get sick of all your browser plugins not working because they're 32 bit.
The 64 bit installer installs the 32 bit version as well. Don't ask.
I assume the reason it wont let you install just the 32 bit version is because that will result in you having a version of Trident that the 64 bit components on your system can't use.

You know, that argument has always annoyed me.

You know, they still make phones for luddites. Try looking.

One word: irrelevant.

So DMCA Curse Gaming to remove your stuff ;)

Uh, Dude? EULAs were tested in court, and upheld.
Thanks Blizzard.

Yes, but HP does that too, really (Touchsmart, I'm looking at you...)

You mean DirectI the large perfectly legitimate domain name registrar? I think you'll find they're as much a scam as Enom or Godaddy.
Actually, make that less. Enom and Godaddy don't exactly have pristine reputations.
From what I read in our local papers, they expect the states will apply a ... say, 10% gross tax on that as well.
That reduces the bonus to... $0, I think.

Actually, Halliburton has the patent on patent trolling.
Nope. Most web hosts will block that using OPEN_BASEDIR restrictions. You simply can't count on being able to access files outside the web root.
Actually, Windiz Update hasn't had a new update added to it since November 2007, and probably never will again.
