True. But do you think even Apple could finance the amount to purchase Microsoft? Also bear in mind that there is no way in hell any government would approve a purchase of Microsoft by Apple, or Apple by Microsoft.
Except that neither (even combined) has the capital. And remember, if it isn't in the best interests of their shareholders, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen as well.
Yeah, but the Discussion2 from 3 days ago was AJAX driven too, and unlike this new crap didn't constantly throw errors like "This resource is no longer valid. Please start from the beginning" when doing stuff like moderating (and yes, refreshing the page is the only way to get the ability to moderate or post when this happens)
Yes, they've changed the whole discussion system again. And yes, the new system sucks even more than the old one. Which sucked considerably, compared to the even older one. You get the idea.
And I'd respond with "uh... what the heck are you talking about? I'm not downloading a 97MB office suite just to send you a document" and stop dealing with you. You'll probably claim "and good riddance" but let's be honest, you'd run out of customers pretty fast.
Then again, what the hell are idiots sending templates to people for?
Sure, there was highly-intense lobbying, and I personally think that anti-trust laws were probably violated in all the countries were so many Microsoft gold partner companies participated in the decision-making process that their sheer number had a significant influence on the outcome. That's not illegal, unless you're saying that any party that has any interest whatsoever in the topic at hand should not be allowed to vote. That'd be akin to saying that the President of the USA should be elected by Britain, and so forth around the world.
I don't think so. The invitation to join the committee was a sham, they weren't welcome in it. There's no way Sun would ever co-operate directly with Microsoft.
(Sorry, but you know OSS folks always tout the awesomeness of how if you find a bug in Firefox, you can just fix it and recompile, while apparently none have ever tried it - because they wouldn't call it easy if they had!)
Sql is an ISO standard; does that mean everything in ISO Sql makes compete sense, or functions as you'd expect? No, but you DO know how everyone else that implements it expects it to act. Ironically, it's near impossible to find two identical implementations (MSSQL, MySQL, PL/SQL, ad infinitum)
Actually, the BlockSite extension is far better for this. It also de-hyperlinks the link in the first place. To me, there IS no link in the troll post. Just the telltale "[yahoo.com]" indicating there was one.
I don't want to burn a CD every time I buy something from iTunes just so I can listen to it on the way to work. It's annoying, cumbersome, and incredibly wasteful. Besides, if I'm going to burn music to a CD, I'm going to burn the MP3 and fit 10x the music on there (there are plenty of modern CD players that can handle this). Not to justify the stupid DRM, but you can use a CD-R which avoids the "wasteful" part of that.
Actually, so does kurt555gs, who replies here too. Following his history, it looks virtually identical to Twitter's. Add another to your list, I guess.
Not really, because the device is merely using a locked down Redhat apparently. You still would not be able to get Google's search engine code, because that's not GPL based, and I guarantee their device wont load anything other than Google code (think Tivo)
Uh, that GUID on the end is specifically for Notepad. For Flash, the GUID is {C8CB1281-1C27-46AD-9DF5-17700E0527EF}. A "Policy" value of "3" appears to mean "don't prompt me"
Because that's illegal. Amusing, when you consider that the prime reason Slashdotters use for pirating music, movies and software is that unlike books, they're not a physical product. And here you are, advocating the pirating of physical products just because they can be digitised. There's your proof, it's not about "open formats" and "decent pricing", it's about wanting shit and being too damn cheap to pay for it.
It's shitty in Firefox as well.
What the hell is that designer on? The curve of the Apple logo isn't even close to the curve of the NYC apple!
If you were to remove the Apple logo, I wouldn't even see the resemblence (because there isn't one). I hope Apple gets crushed in court.
True. But do you think even Apple could finance the amount to purchase Microsoft? Also bear in mind that there is no way in hell any government would approve a purchase of Microsoft by Apple, or Apple by Microsoft.
No, because there is still large competition in the field (Google, AOL)

Well, I was actually going for a joke, but seeing that you're not a hypocrite ruined it quite nicely. Hmmph.

You're fricking kidding, right? A link to a document, file or website that isn't up should result in the doc becoming invalid? What a dumb idea!
Also, you do realise that the document was actually distributed in an approved document format (PDF) right?
And I'd respond with "uh... what the heck are you talking about? I'm not downloading a 97MB office suite just to send you a document" and stop dealing with you. You'll probably claim "and good riddance" but let's be honest, you'd run out of customers pretty fast.

...
Like now?

Crap dammit. I meant CD-RW.

They probably don't, but corporate IT might block your continued employment if you install unapproved software.

Your argument is not a response to mine - I was unable to find a valid rebuttal to the topic at hand in your reply.
Uh, Amazon's barcode standard is the global industry standard UPC. If you aren't using it, you wont be dealing with any bookstores either.
