Thanks for the personal attack, it's always a nice way to ensure you are taken seriously.
Thanks also for the science lesson; I am actually well aware there are different types of EM.
My point was that people who fear EM don't know and don't care about the difference, so why would they take the 'risk' of the embedded wiring in their house any less seriously?
Try not to make foolish assumptions so much in future, you might even manage to avoid coming across as a rude prick.
If I'm not mistaken, even the electrical cables in the walls of one's house broadcast EM radiation when in use. So with that in mind, electricity itself must be 'bad'.
Let's go back to burning dung for cooking and lighting, the damage to our lungs from the fumes will be nothing compared to the health benefits we'll get from shutting off those goddamned commie electrons.
What amazes me are stories that Chinese medical practitioners routinely warn against 'fan death'. Not sure I'd want superstitious fools like that treating me for a health condition, regardless of their qualifications.
This is just too beautiful, you're like two warships warily circling one another in the dark, unable to pinpoint each other's location.
Unfortunately our poster has you at a disadvantage; perhaps this may be of assistance. I'd like to say "Ironically, it was Monty Python all along," but I'm not sure that's a good example of irony but if it actually was then I'm even less sure I'd get away with it.:-)
Now that was a coherent and well-argued reply, thank you. Damn I sound condescending but I don't intend to be, I appreciate your thoughtful response and also for taking my (hopefully constructive) criticism of your earlier points in the spirit it was intended.
I think you've raised some interesting ideas and the research you suggest is probably a wise idea as I have no idea how foreign cultures feel about the topic.
Except most of them end up trying to revert and/or killing themselves.
I wasn't aware of that, if it truly is the case then you certainly have a point.
If I believed I was Napoleon do you think there'd be support for me getting cosmetic surgery to look more like the historical Napoleon or do you think people would call me delusional?
I think this is unrelated. This example is obvious because that would be trying to change oneself to be another person which is a clear fiction; Napoleon is dead. It's harder to prove a person's internal feelings to be fiction.
If I believed I was a tall black man and got cosmetic surgery to make me look like a tall black man, do you think I'd be good at basketball?
This seems like a straw-man argument because unless I'm reading it wrong, you're 'mixing your metaphors'. I don't agree that tall black people do not necessarily make good basketballers. Unless I'm missing something obvious.
Why would you think becoming a tall black man would make you anything other than just a tall black man? Unless you perhaps feel that tall black men are naturally better at basketball than tall white men, but that's another argument and tangential to our discussion here.
Homosexuals are generally different; a gay man typically doesn't have the delusion that they are a woman.
There you go again, this time mixing non-sequitur with circular logic.
By your thinking I could just as easily claim that a gay man is under the delusion that he finds men attractive.
I'm not trying to be obnoxious, I just think your arguments are unconvincing at best and if I were feeling unkind I'd call them specious.
Also theres money to be made from delusional wackos, like the transgenders who'll pay for cosmetic surgery to help back up their delusion.
I'm not transgender, nor do I personally know any TG people so take my opinion with the grain of salt it deserves.
My thinking is that someone opting for gender-reassignment surgery is quite committed to living their lives as the gender they feel they really are. It's not a fad or a phase: they've likely lived a good portion of their adult lives in this manner. I imagine they hold their new gender in the same esteem as non-TG people hold their from-birth gender. With this in mind, is 'delusional' really the right word for a person in this mindset?
I can only imagine how horrible it might be to feel oneself to be in the wrong body. I'm a firm believer in Live And Let Live as a life philosophy and feel a little compassion might not go astray for an otherwise-normal person struggling with a serious personal situation. Labelling them as 'delusional' is about as fair as saying the same thing about homosexual people.
- High-level radioactive waste is deadly to touch, hold, carry, etc., for hundreds of thousands of years. - You can pick up a piece of this waste, hold on to it for a while, and be dead in a few days. - Nuclear energy, in its present form, produces a waste product that will outlive our species.
What utter bilge. Your post is deceitful and I cannot help but find you a thoroughly disgusting liar. A few minutes on Wikipedia would disperse much of your nonsense. Thank you for wasting everyone's time with your tl;dr spew of unscientific rantings.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing shyte like this posted to Slashhdot. Why on earth do ill-informed muppets like you always find a reason to open your fat yaps to spout factually-laughable tripe? Ah, silly me - it's because you've an internal narrative running that prevents anything so inconvenient as FACTS from upsetting your clown-caper march of delusional stupidity.
As another poster described below, you don't know what you're talking about as regards nuclear waste. SHUT UP.
Furthermore, 'nuclear waste' is synonymous with 'nuclear material we've failed extract any real energy from' so re-processing is the logical solution.
What's that you say? You don't like reprocessing? Well then, I guess you're right: the problem is more of a political issue than a technical problem, but thanks for framing the argument so disingenuously anyway as it's always pleasant to observe liars out themselves as obviously as you've done.
Don't let any of this spoil your anti-nuclear FUD narrative though. Oh, silly me. I failed to consider your active Fact Shield - the one that comes free of charge with every membership to the noookular: bad groupthink singalong community.
Now, man up and take responsibility for the fact that you and your arsehole ilk have single-handedly created this fucking climate issue we're all faced with. All because noookular is baaaaaad. Thanks a lot you fucking heroes. Go take a nice long look at China building coal-fired plants like they're going out of fashion. Think they'd be doing this if there were a significant and healthy international state-level market for nuclear fuel and reprocessing solutions?
Hmm, I wonder why such a thing wouldn't have gotten off the ground, it makes so much sense to pursue as an option! Oh wait, I remember now, it's because the noookular is baaaaaad movement let emotion get before reason and fucked it up for every living thing on this planet.
Now paint me as a corporate shill, dismiss my arguments as fluff and return to your normal routine. That's the beauty of humans; you can almost always predict their behaviour in advance.
(Whenever you see media massively screwing up reporting of stuff you know lots about, bear in mind that every expert in every field has the same gripe about them)
This is an important point you raise and one I frequently remind people of. The News is best assumed to contain a non-insignificant quantity of fiction with lashings of misses-the-point and at least a touch or two of just-plain-wrong.
and no, I don't need any corrections on the timeline from the peanut gallery)
Of course not. Nobody would dare challenge the conclusions of a self-aggrandizing jackass who just *knows* all this 'climate change' phooey is little more than a money grab aimed at the 'sheeple', those poor fools.
Sounds like a great way to ensure you never want to listen to the album again!:)
You are clearly an enlightened chap, it's always interesting to read a little history. If you enjoyed Jerry's interview, look for the full interview with the doorman, Roger the Hat. As you're no doubt aware, he contributed the "Short, sharp shock, dig it?" amongst other gems like the nutty laughter in Brain Damage.
Better to make the social programs global. There's plenty of money locked up in the financial industry to do it.
Here in New Zealand we're being displaced by the Chinese, especially so in our largest city; Auckland is now 25% Asian. They come here with 0%-interest government loans to buy up our houses. It sounds a bit dramatic but this has driven housing prices so hard that poorer people are ending up on the street.
Do I have a problem with Asians? Not especially. Am I anti-immigration? Not really; I quite like Germans, for example, but I'd be similarly concerned if they were changing the entire dynamic of my country by arriving in great number.
I can't fault Asians for wanting to move here, we're pretty lucky in this fairly-unspoilt country, but it's so damn small (pop. 4M) that if we threw the borders open we'd be extinguished as a nation within six months. We'd end up as overcrowded as Singapore and I and many others would be bloody miserable.
If we had to pay welfare and pensions to them all as well..
I'm all for immigration but I fear that whatever it is that someone finds attractive enough to consider emigrating to another country would be lost in this situation.
I do see the sense of a universal welfare system (maybe it should just be a guaranteed basic income) such as you suggest, but first we really need the robot revolution to put most of us out of work in my not-terribly-informed opinion.
Hi, as you seem to appreciate constructive feedback on your English may I gently point out that Nazi is not an acronym but short-hand for the full name of Hitler's political party at the time, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.:)
The simple answer is to liken the fusion reaction to the coal burning in a steam engine; therefore in the end we could just be boiling water.
I'd love if we could get away from having to boil water or it's going to be a right pain in the backside trying to build one into a spacecraft.
Perhaps betavoltaics like the Nuclear Lightbulb fission reactor concept?
But the currently-recommended day's amount of salt was literally pulled out of someone's ass,
Surely you mean figuratively? I'm not sure faeces are the best possible material for recording and storing health metrics, but I'm open to debate.
Ooops, you're quite right, my bad! Apologies to anyone I inadvertently offended. :(
Thanks for the personal attack, it's always a nice way to ensure you are taken seriously.

Thanks AC, that was an interesting little read.
Shit, I'd better stock up on popcorn!

First off - ban REDDIT !!!
Yup! Fuck those people and their stupid opinions that I don't share, ban them all!
Do you understand the use of the word 'many' and why the writer chose this instead of the word 'all'?
and no, I don't need any corrections on the timeline from the peanut gallery)
Of course not. Nobody would dare challenge the conclusions of a self-aggrandizing jackass who just *knows* all this 'climate change' phooey is little more than a money grab aimed at the 'sheeple', those poor fools.
Crap, I just realised I conflated Roger the Hat with Jerry Driscoll; Roger was a *roadie*, Jerry was the doorman, apologies.
Sounds like a great way to ensure you never want to listen to the album again! :)

FTFY. Don't make the pink floyd mistake...
Maybe you weren't listening hard enough:
"There is no dark side of the moon, really. Matter of fact it's all dark."
Interesting point, thanks for explaining.

I believe the original point was not that they are exactly 2" x 4", but that they are specified in inches. Twit.
If a 2x4 is not actually two inches by four inches can you really say it is still measured in inches?
