But suddenly when it's Apple it's all ok. Why the hell?

Where do you get the idea that anyone approves of Apple's rejection of alternative development environments on its handhelds? Sure, a lot of people hate most Flash implementations and what Flash has done to website design, but I've never heard speak in favor of Apple's policies toward software development.

Not necessarily. The possessive of "Jobs" could also be "Jobs'". Frankly, I think "Jobs's" looks stupid, but a lot of people say it's valid English. In high school, I was taught that "Jobs's" is wrong, and that's what I believe.

There's no way Apple could do that. PA Semi employees didn't have any such contract (I presume), and when Apple bought them, there's no way they could have forced the employees to sign such a contract. I've never heard of a company being purchased on the condition that the employees sign away their rights before the purchase.

The lawyer was right. The only way to get something into the "public domain" is to let its copyright expire, which at this point takes about 95 years. This means that there is no code in the public domain. All code is copyrighted and licensed, but the license may be as permissive as the public domain is.

What "good alternative" can I use to watch high-def movies stored on my home server via my networked media tank or laptop etc?

Why is the parent modded insightful? If you want high-def movies on your home server, buy the Blu-ray disc and a Blu-ray player, and rip the movie to your server. Most people will say that this is completely legal, and even if some companies say it isn't, it's still conscionable and untraceable.
