  1. Re:AS/400 on IBM iSeries or Windows server? · · Score: 1

I did quite a bit of consulting on the rs/6000 platform and on as/400 for lotus notes. My personal preference is the rs/6000 for Notes, even though the situation you described simply shouldn't be happening on as/400 unless someone truly bombed and misconfigured the server. The server code has been quite stable (and solid) since the 5.x days.

Ha ha. This is soooo funny because I was asked to change my name because I'm apparently "semi-Famous" in some circles, and the GM didn't believe it was me. I had to send a copy of my drivers license as well as a bunch of other personal information VIA MAIL, to ensure that I was who I 'claimed' to be. I'm sure you can do the same thing, but you have to write it all out and send them proof that you are who you are. It's stupid. I know.

The Article is a troll, Specifically point 2 about game developers. Yeah they work hard but mostly those aren't the kinds of places that you'd want to work willingly unless you were passionate about what you do. They make it soudns like it's the industries credit as to why things are the way they are. So wrong. I hope this doesn't get in front of some PHB who thinks 'oh the games market does it, yay!" Idiots.

It's all over the net if you look. The main reason factor is supply capacity. Dell buys a stupid huge number of things at once, and the last article i read said something like some crazy % of amd's entire production would have to go to dell. ;)

If gmail cancels pop access then there isn't much point to using it either. It's impossible to train some people to use webmail interfaces. They get used to some archaic email program and that's what they want to use. I'm not going to embarass them and say which pop3 program it is, suffice it to say that it's one that you have to install a new instance of it in a new directory for every email account you want to check!

Quality Not Quality. I have 17 yahoo counts, and I know most people have at least two or three. So those numbers are most definately inflated. Real users, not accounts. Yahoo mail is still bollocks compared to gmail. It was a shame as it was a good service back in 1999 and 2000, and the 6MB! was an amazing amount of storage back then.

When is Yahoo going to get their head out of their ass and offer POP3 access? Google offers a superior service, more space, and Pop3. And yahoo mail is NOT worth the $19 a year just to get the same features as google. Sorry Yahoo, not news worthy! Thanks for playing though.

Who takes gartner fucking seriously anymore? I haven't taken tehm seriously since 1998, when they tried to get me to purchase some 'enterprise messaging guide' and they were pushing Exchange to replace a 193,000 seat Lotus Notes install. I wish I knew where to begin, but they have to be one of the most clueless consultards I've ever met. It is patently obvious to anyone who reads their 'recommendations' that whoever is paying their fee this week will be the 'new internet buzzword platform de jour.' This is so far from being newsworthy as to be almost a bad troll. Linux is here, and it accomplishes REAL WORK in the REAL WORLD. Really.
