  1. This is just FUD on Google Nexus Rumored To Cost $530 Or $180 w/Plan · · Score: 2, Interesting

I've seen this post on many other sites, all referencing to the gizmodo link, which is a mockup of the page which is supposed to be the actual page offering the phone. No confirmation, no real data, no journalism.. just plain old FUD.

I bet there'll be more delays and it will be fully functional on Dec 21, 2012.. By that time, i'll have enough canned food, bottles of fresh water and a little boat, sailing in the south atlantic :D

Ain't it weird that they're trying to decipher this on the dawn of the LHC tests?
I believe that there's more here than what we think.

  4. Cure worse than disease on Time To Abolish Software Patents? · · Score: 3, Funny

Abolition of Software Patents is just plainly nonsense. Not only because companies will madly lobby to destroy any attempt to do so, but because it's not fair for the rightful owners of software patents who developed software (NOT patent trolls).

We all know the answer, there should be some kind of legislation or law (IANAL) that should enforce patent owners to
    a) keep developing software based on the patent, not just earn royalties
    b) be rightful creators, or earn the patents on a company merge
    c) be a real company, not just some patent troll
    Where a, b & c should be all true.

Run your sshd on a port other than 22. Or instead of that, just disable password authentication and allow only RSA/DSA keys auth. OTOH, moving the service to another port may save bandwith from the constant login attempts, but in certain scenarios (behind a router or provider with strict policies, like only allowing port 22, 25 & 80 forwardings) this may not be an option, in which case, disabling passwords is the best option IMHO.

Indeed. Reading "maffiaa", "bigbrother" and so on was really funny and it gave you an idea of what the article was really about. I don't know if it was because of tags filtering, i believe it's because of the heavy use the Firehose may be having (damn you firehose!). If i want to read something about politics, i'd go to http://politics.slashdot.org/ if i want science, i'd go to http://science.slashdot.org./ Please, tag this as "wewantfunnytagsback".

My useless 2 cents on this rant.
