KNOW THE FUCKING LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to engineering school at the University of Cincinnati. Every single day of my freshman year, I had to sit through a 5 hour 8AM calculus class, and each one was a different TA, and each one couldn't speak english. When the TA is turning around and asking the class, "Who do I say blah blah blah," there is a HUGE problem. Sure maybe over at Purdue, they don't have that problem, and I was accepted there too, but at UC and at most schools this is a common problem.
If I do not know the subject matter, how I can I possibly give you the words to teach me something I do not already know? I am so thankful that my public high school had one hell of a math program, or there isn't a snowballs chance in hell I would have ever made it through those classes.
Is it really too much to ask, when you are paying thousands of dollars per quarter/semester, to have a teacher who can SPEAK THE FUCKING LANGUAGE?!
Because it's apple, don't you get it?
You have the real point here. There are better available now. This phone doesn't deserve the press it is getting. The hype is complete BS, the phone is an even bigger pile of steaming crap, but it has an Apple logo.
The real lesson or study to be made here is of brand loyalty and recognition. And the social impacts of a cult.
This was insightful?
Being that I work for a company that does this kind of design work, and helps customers integrate new ideas into phones, I have to speculatively disagree with this whole, "it's motorola's fault." You guys need to quit protecting Apple so much. The original post is probably the most accurate. Businesses do not like to disrupt their revenue streams.
Gee the phone is a flop so it's a Motorola product. Had the phone been worth a sh1t, and people buying it, everyone would be praising Apple.
You can remove the fanboy from the apple store, but you can't remove the apple from the fanboy.
2 seconds of logic, Kim nukes Seoul. US aircraft carrier or aegis cruiser nukes ALL of N Korea. N Korea and Kim no longer exist.
Will Kim ever nuke Seoul or Tokyo?
The answer to this is a no brainer. Quit being a warhawk and think rationally.
This has been studied, and a MOAB is not enough. It takes a couple of Hydrogen bombs to disrupt a hurricane. It is possible, but then you have all that nuclear fallout to deal with, on top of the negative impact of not having the hurricane hit the US. Hurricanes bring lots of needed water into the continental US. They are a neccessity for our survival. This would most definitely be a case of the cure is worse than the disease.
Considering how many times the.DOC file format has changed, can you still open up.doc files you made in Word 1.0 with Word 2k3? The answer is YES, so the closed format and not being able to view it in 10 years is mute. You don't think MS will support their own formats 10 years from now?
So the only advantage of a mac mini is size. Because I can buy a $399 dell that is more powerful and it's complete system. Oh wait, I had a flyer in the mail yesterday that had a $299 Dell, complete system, (after $100) mail in rebate.
I am not tyring to completely bash apple here, but from your argument, this is all I can deduce from it.
I haven't seen a user confused by a multi-button mouse in well, over ten years. Now do some stumble when I say right click, yes, occasionally, then I patiently, say, "no, that was the left button, right click." This normally makes them feel a little stupid at first, and rightfully so, but once they have done it ONCE, it's done.
The problem isn't the multi-button mouse, the problem is adults. They DON'T follow instructions, they interpret them. Try teaching computers to kids and then to adults. Kids are SO much easier.
Before you go off spouting complete and utter bullshit, try learning the facts. There is one reason, and only one reason, that the overwhelming majority of drug screens are performed. Do you have a clue as to what it is? Have you ever owned your own business, if you did, you already know the answer. Ever buy health insurance for you company? DIDN'T THINK SO!!!!
Here's the big secret: YOU GET A HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM DISCOUNT FOR DRUG SCREENING!!!!!!
It wasn't until that started happening that drug testing showed up. In spite of all of Nancy's commercials, it was the insurance premium break that brought on drug testing. Most companies don't care. If you show up sober, they don't care. That is why companies don't do real randoms.
Actually, yes, I live in Cincinnati, go read about the race riots in 2001. Three black men were shot killed that summer, not one had a weapon on them.
The big industries would try to DRM no matter what, pirating has always existed, and always will, and it is not nearly as big as a lose as they want you to believe. Check the facts, they are there, you just have to dig.
Hasn't this been patched? I haven't read all the articles about it, but on news.com and another story I read said this flaw was patch back in April. If that is the case, there is nothing wrong with him talking about it. It is far old enough to be publically discussed. That is plenty of time for people to have patched their routers.
And as nuclear technologies mature more and more, we will increase their effency for one. And two, we will learn how to use the "waste" from reactors to create other energy sources with.
When they first started cooking down crude into heating oil, they poured the "useless" gasoline into the rivers and streams. It was too volatile and dangerous to use for anything.
Because the point was on the controlled file format, not the exact format itself. You are looking for an elephant with a magnifying glass, yet you still think I am the one who is wrong. Sorry, but it's not so. Maybe you should go back to the start of the thread.
The US did not go into South Vietnam on our own. We were asked by the S.Vietmanese government to be there. Only after the French botched the job. But then, you did have the USSR encouraging, driving the N.V. to drive into the south, so that war really and truely was global politics screwing up an "innocent" *cough-bullshit* country. (there is no such thing)
Though there have been civillians hurt in Iraq by the US, the US takes more steps than any army I have seen to limit the damage to the civillian population in armed conflict. Why in the hell do you think we spend so much money on our bombs. We can make big booms for less then several thousand bucks a pop.
The biggest argument our government can give for actually supporting the current war in Iraq is to be there on human rights issues. But, if you want to take that ground, we shouldn't be in Iraq yet, we should be in Sudan, Somolia, and several other African countries where genocide is not only present, but is rigor-du-jur.
The mid-east is way behind the rest of the world, except Africa, and one can only hope that they break their oppressive controls, and come into the newer world. Obviously, this is what president gumby is trying to accomplish, but he is too damned bullheaded to accomplish his goals.
Why was this marked insightful. It is bad speculation with little speculation. I am not a professional coder. I do understand systems, and I am a sys admin/consultant. I also read enough other posts here from professional developers who understand this a 1000x's better than me, and understand that there are foul things afoot here.

Right, and you had to read /. first..... whose the nerd now buddy.... :D
Did you check the site to see if your boss has an ad there? Maybe he/she was afraid of being found out. :D
No you clod, it is because of the razor.
Just how big is your bib?

Just too many slush-heads out there still can't figure that out. Guess staying sober all your life takes something out of ya. :)

I see the sense of humor is weak with this one....

Guess you didnt hear about the drm on the motherboard that limits OSX to Apple's Intel hardware.

It wasn't about the format, it was about the drm. You missed the point altogether. But hey, since when does that matter.
You want me to take a book written by MAN, edited and UNKNOWN number of times by MAN, as proof of GOD? Gee, I can't see the fallacy in that.
Proof = infallable data supporting theorum. bible != proof
