lol, constant improvement, like several year old bugs that resurface! ROFL.... Neither will ever "Win", look at Netscape. They got their but kicked and they still exist. If FF takes the majority of market share from IE, then good for them for finally defeating BG at his own game. If not, too bad for them. Either way, a new competitor will come along eventually to challenge the app on top. Me? I'm waiting for either of them to get it right. FF crashes just as much as IE and I still have gotten virus warnings with it.....I won't even get started on Opera....

The problem is, no matter how hard I try I can't get my wife to learn Linux. So it will be a god send to be able to run WinXP and OSX on a single machine. My wife hasn't boycotted OSX and I can still run my ancient games that my friends and I still like to play by booting into WinXP but I don't have to deal with Winblows unless were playing a game......

Patents do serve the original function of sharing information but, now especially, they are also intended to PROTECT the idea from being taken by everyone else and letting them profit from it upon inception......Thats what science and technology publications are for. Patents these days are more commonly used to make sure you have a fair amount of time to profit from and develop the idea before handing to the rest of the world.

I agree some patents are going too far and the patent office should review the way they issue them. What I can't agree with is the way people here vilify anyone for registering a patent.
If I don't want to make money supporting software, I want to make money writing software, and if my software is good and does something that no one else has figured out, then I want to patent that software. It's a little idea called CAPATILISM! You guys need to go start a hippy-hacker commune that is as socialistic as you guys would like it to be and leave those of us alone that want a career and not a hobby....Just because they thought of it, and you didn't doesn't mean they should have to give it away.
Luckily for me there are many others out there who would like to make money also, so you socialists can keep complaining all you want, since the capatilists have the money and hence the power.

Also, about using ID as an alternative to evolution; the Babylonians http://faculty.gvsu.edu/websterm/Enuma_Elish.html> believed the earth was created by multiple gods and then man was created by Enki in a story called Enuma Elish. And what of the Greeks Theogony? If ID is to be taught in schools, shouldn't we teach all of the versions so that the child can make a TRUE decision? Or, should we just teach them the one that we can Factually prove to be the most relevant in the same way there are many theories in Physics, but we teach the ones that are accepted as being as close to the truth as we can come? Oh yeah, the closest we can come to proving anything about creation is evolution! If you or your children want to learn about legend and myth, take the appropriate class and don't expect science class to be where it is found, until the religious world can produce some form of foundation for their story. Until then, it's just a modern Enuma Elish. P.S. If anyone says it is because we now know those are just stories to explain the physical world to primative man....well in another 2000 years they may be saying that about creationism/ID! -- Ahh, not so cold now, can't wait to get there, this handbasket sure is comfortable!

One of the reasons for humanoid robots would be to allow the robots to do things that will commonly be done by humans also. By giving the robot a humanoid form, the robot would be able to use most equipment that is designed for humans. In order to make robots a part of everyday life, they will have to be able to do things using human equipment. If your "Robot Chef" is in for repair, you still want to be able to open the refrigerator door to get something to eat. If the robot chef used a specific appendage to access a latch that is not accessible to humans, you would starve! So, if you want your robot to make cars or PCB's, your probably not wanting a humanoid; if you want a robobutler to do things for you around the house, a humanoid would be advantageous..... -kk
