I've heard a lot of people complaining about the "quality" of downloads via e-mule, I have 2 basic things for you:
You're downloading something that is FREE, it is really lame to complain about something you get for free.
It doesn't take much time to get used to Emule, know how it works, and know which files are "fake" or not before downloading them.
The point I try to make here is that we're becoming professional complainers that prefer to pay and have the right to complain to have something done instead of taking the time to learn how to make it ourselves. I find this quite sad, but then again I might be the only one to find it so.

Sorry if I sound a little be too "piratious", but "A LA CARTE TV" is already present on the internet, some call it emule, others BitTorrent. Quite honestly, as long as I do not have an acceptable service with really reasonable prices I'll continue to use any of those "oh, because of you the industry is dead" services. I have no conscience problem at all in doing what I do, or at least I have as much as TV producers have when they treat viewrs like dumb fat ass couch potates that need to be told what to watch.
Sorry, it does Happen. Here in Belgium 99% of the broadband providers limit your transfers to a certain monthly amount (usually 10GB, but the more you pay the more you get). And as far as I know only 3 providers give unlimited transfer. Two of them are cable operators, in which one gives you the no limits connection as standard and the other one charges you 60+ a month for unlimited access. And these 2 companies only offer their services in certain parts of Belgium.. The third one is an ADSL provider which gives you a 500MB limit but once you go over the limit you only pay 5 per month no matter how far you go.
Probably you're right, people gets confused with some many linux distributions. In order to solve that I show them Ubuntu, I tell them use Ubuntu (not linux). Eventually they'll say "Ah! it's linux", but by then they're already in.
I had the same problem with the multimedia stuff, that's until I ask them run Easy Ubunutu after installing ubuntu to get all multimedia codecs you need and much more.
My last conversion occured last friday. A colleague installed Ubuntu on his laptop, it recognized everything the first time, and he's a happy Linux guy now.
Every time I get someone to try Linux I'm amazed on how positive their reaction is.
<Evil Mode>Now I have to continue with my plans to slowly but gradually start showing linux beauty to the whole company (20000+ Employees) in order to throw windows out of here some day.</Evil Mode>
I agree with you that it is the company's computer, but I disagree in the fact that they force you to use this or that tool.
You should be able to use any tool you need as long as it is free or you paid for the license yourself, if these tools allow you to be more productive your boss shouldn't do anything but agreeing.
The goal is getting the job done. Period. if your boss does not understand that, ten better switch quickly!
Can you give me the name of those companies that do not ask for specialization?? I totally agree with the parent post, people mistake syntax with logic. I might be able to tell you every single reserved word, function, operand and whatnot of one language, but if I do not have the necessary logic to put all these words together in the right order, it is useless. Language syntax can be picked up pretty quickly, logic not.
Hehehe it happened to me once, I just downloaded a spanish comedy which I could not watch on my local TV as I'm in another country... that episode was supposed to be presented by "bud spencer"... well, finally it was presented by Rocco if you know what I mean... I was lucky the kids were not there!
First of all, I cannot read the article because of the corporate proxy filter, so I'm talking "blind" here.
Ok, so what is the real problem with this???
If this is being done to prevent "ilicit" files from being spread, then I do not see what could be wrong with it. Some people are getting free stuff and then complaining the file is corrupted or it isn't what they expected to download???
Another matter would be for example contaminating "licit" files, but I'm sure that this is not the case (again, I couldn't read the article), which could be used from preventing downloading of some linux distros for example. That'd be something to worry about though.
What I usually do (I'm using aMule) is to verify the "file description" tab. There you have the filenames that are given by different people on the network. So if you see 3 or 4 different names for the same file, it is usually a fake. And this goes for every type of file, not only music/films. You can also do a "check fake" and it will redirect you to a site where information on fake files is kept more or less up to date.
I can only agree.... I propose to install Kubuntu to any friends/relatives computer I can get my hands on.. none of them has ever come back to Windows.. I've recently installed kubuntu on my work laptop and detected everything, even the PCMCIA wireless card at the first try... Simply excellent. If it continues its path it'll be a serious contender to windows.
I just patented the 5 steps for profit, you'll soon receive a letter from my lawyer. I also patented teh 1,2,3,4..N steps profit method, so don't try to play it on me....
They're infringing my patent of something that does something with something resulting in something that is something which may or may not be used for something and including but not limited to something that does something where you enter data with something...
While I'm not trying to minimize the effects an erthquake would have anywhere in the world, why is it that since the last tsunami every single earthquake may trigger a tsunami too??? Hey, you might as well get a Tsunami in Kansas pretty soon!! Come on!... or is it more like a "ass-covering" thing.. you know "Well, i hate to say I told you so"
Well, I just do not know, but.. look at this.. Microsoft started as a "software" company and now are getting more and more into hardware, even consoles. Why wouldn't apple go the other way round?? They have great stuff as the ipod that will help them make the switch, Apple is now appreciated by more users than ever before.
I mean, yes, keep selling Mac branded machines for the mac purists, but why not sell their os for the common clone and compete against Windows itself?? If linux has shown us one thing is that there is people willing to try another OS for their desktops. I think Apple is one of the few companies in the position to cut a share of Microsoft's domination on the desktop.

So is this bad news or good news, or?? come'on, give me something for my daily microsoft bashing spree!!
And who can guarantee the first tests he made were REALLY positive?
Can you give me the name of those companies that do not ask for specialization??

I liked "ACME" more.. but they wouldn't use it...
Thanks, as I imagined it only affects movies.... oh well...
I say use bit torrent to distribute windows and then poison the bitch to death!!
Sorry, just had to...

I have your bios upgrade right in my middle finger, can I insert it?
Will it run linux if I insert my usb "flesh" stick?

He's the first to blame for creating windows and making it possible to run programs on it that will allow for file swapping!
