The walmarts around the Sillicon Valley area already sell ATI and NVidia cards, although they're all in the $40 - $100 range -- you won't find the newest quad SLI cards, or anything of the sort.
They also sell a few wireless network cards, both PCI and PCMCIA.
Yes, both involve currency. Both involve game transactions. Hell, you could even slip another player $5USD for a few of 'his' monopoly bucks, or gold pieces, or whatever.
Never, at any point, do you, the player, own the monopoly dollars, nor your WoW gold, or anything of the sort. For the entire duration of your time playing at Rob's house, Rob still owns every monopoly dollar; for the entire duration of your time playing WoW, blizzard owns your gold. You don't take your monopoly dollars home with you, nor your WoW lewt.
You never own 'your' game money. As such, you can't be taxed on it.

...My credit card company left an automated message on my answering machine saying, "Please contact our fraud department at 1-800-xxx-xxxx".
I was stunned. What kind of security is that? Am I supposed to blindly assume every "Hey, you have a visa, right? Call me" message on my answering machine is refering to a legitimate phone number for your orginization?
I heard this idea proposed about 10 years ago, using a gravity battery that's almost certainly (1) cheaper (2) less likely to fail (3) of greater capacity (4) of comperable efficiency:
Move water uphill via a screwgear to a resivoir at night, when electricity's cheap. During the day, let the water run downhill, powering a generator.
No complicated electronics, or nothin. Nice, big, user-servicable parts.
Of course, you would need pleanty of land, and a resivoir at the top of a hill.
"Graveyard BBQ" won last year. The song's one of my top 10 favorites to play.
It's really a win-win-win situation. Harmonix gets some cool songs free, you get to play kickass songs you've never heard, and indie artists you've _never_ heard of get some publicity. There were a good dozen songs by Boston-area indy bands that you could unlock in the first game, that were totally separate from the main set of songs you had to play through to advance -- and half of those bands included Harmonix staff members.
But I swear, this one's 90% cut scenes. Some of 'em stretch on for 10 minutes plus, and the time between cutscenes is as little as 15 to 30 seconds, sometimes.
It's like watching a bad, low poly CG movie.
If you're a fan of older Final Fantasy stile grinds, it may start to wear on you a little.
You laugh now, but I sat through a presentation by Elonka Dunin at mud-dev 2k3 covering the basics of cryptography, including an exploration of the possibility that terrorists may attempt to use MMOs as communications channels.
"Tell hashmir the Loot will be on the Big Green Goblin at Half Past Morntide"
That's nonsense. I guarantee you there would be "PCI HyperTransport Cards" available on the market - no matter how pointless such a card would be. As for RAM, it can be included on the card or as part of the external CPU enclosure. Then you're only limited by the PCI bus speed.
That's really, really limited -- the PCI bus isn't even considered suitable for 3D graphics cards anymore, much less CPUs.
You're proposing putting an entire PC on a PCI card (since it's now gotta have RAM -- which requires a new BIOS and its own bus, which in turn means you've got most of a motherboard on there) -- why not just build an entire PC from the ground up, and ditch the old system entirely?
"Hum... I can't quite afford a whole new system or even a motherboard and two new procs... I'll just add a new one to the back of an existing one"...Except you'd need a hypertransport 3.0 motherboard to begin with, and enough appropriately clocked RAM to make use of the processor. The whole "External CPU" idea was just speculation anyway; it's not mentioned anywhere in the article.
Point being, you'll never be able to plug a new opteron into _anything_ that's sitting in your closet right now.
Note "Support for strong environmental regulations." is listed as a liberal position.
I agree that there are many flavors of conservatism and liberalism; and there are environmentalists on both sides of the fence, to be sure. That doesn't change the fact that there are more liberal environmentalists than there are conservative environmentalists.
It's awfully nice of you to remind us of the logical falacy of dichotomy; however, abandoning all generalization as a result is senseless.
A good environemntalist is a conservative - they conserve their energy use by being conservative with their power needs.
Political conservatism has nothing to do with conservation of resources.
The core tenet of political conservatism is small government and personal freedom. That means _less_ government regulation on everything, _including_ environmental issues.
The core tenet of political liberalism is increased government involvement, which by extension includes increased environmental legislation.
Generally, environmentalists fall under the liberal category, as they tend to favor environmental legislation -- and indeed, how else can one force corporate america to take care of the planet other than through law?
If you pick up the most recent official microsoft acedemic press Windows XP administration textbook, it details how to take advantage of the automated install features.
At least, the NT4 and win2k texts did. I haven't picked up anything newer.
The moving parts in those things seem to be _really_ easy to misallign. If you actually tighten the screws all the way, the pick bar gets stickey, which really effects gameplay. You have to only screw the body together part way.
I find myself talking about the programming techniques covered by the moniker of "AJAX" (herein after refered to as "BLURG") and wanting to call it something other than "AJAX":
Good luck. I've been asking for years what the Fi in WiFi means. Wireless Fidelity? What the hell does that mean?
Someone suggested "Wireless Frequency" which is even stupider, as there is no one "Wireless Frequency" (not even amoung the 802.11 standards) -- not to mention the fact that it's an unused term...and I don't know how "Frequency" shortens to "Fi".
I suggested WiNet, as in WIreless NETworking. Haven't gotten any takers yet.
I know, it's harsh, cliche, and flamebait, but honestly, it worked for me.
I played Asheron's Vall obsessively for 4 years. I spent one entire summer doing nothing but. By the time I quit, I'd accumulated well over 6 months of online time. I dropped out of all my college classes... Two quarters in a row.
My parents did me a huge favor and kicked me out of their home on my 21st birthday. I found an appartment, got a job I enjoyed, and got engaged. Between the job and the fiance, I didn't have _time_ to play for months. By the time I had time again, I'd lost interest. I played about a total of 40 hours of WoW over the course of a month and a half this year, but rapidly got bored, and haven't logged in a single time in months.
What, don't they have a netinstall image? Who wants to waste a bunch of CDs anyway?
I typically just go with the minimum net install, and then apt-get whatever I need.
The cops took the whole thing really seriously, and gave a few people a lot of shit, if you read the whole page and watch all the videos.
They get freaked out when people show up, act oddly, and video tape stuff.
The manager *was* a total douche though: "You're violating my civil rights by filming in my store!".
...It's not like google invented internet advertising.
Banner ads were taking the same path. If anything, we should thank google for making internet advertising less intrusive.

Due to hardware issues, we're using the Testing branch (which is obviously less than ideal) which ships with 2.6.15.
