i know this is bad news but i can't help think that it might have some good come from it. after all, penicillin came from some mould...
what with all the DNA research going on, i wonder of a "super weed" that resists all poisens. if it naturally (well, not entirely naturally obviously) occured, would we be able to extract this super immune system and inject the dna into something else? i heard they made a glow in the dark monkey by stuffing some glowing fish genes in there so who knows...
how well the information gathered by google for advertising would benefit the fbi so decided that the one stop search all method is quite usefull. integrate all their electronic databases into a google search server that's not online with the main net, and you have a powerfull search appliance for government or something
....that they do an out takes / freaks release a la viral advert style that can't be traced to them. everyone knows those reality tv shows that are talent contests are funniest when the contestants fail
who thinks he may just be laughing up his sleeve at you at the same time
he's just as corrupt and interested in money as any other politician
"yes, i will fight this evil company, by buying lucrative shares in the most popular video game franchise ever. i am such a martyr"
true he is against them and a lunatic, but it's funny how he can justify buying good stock this way
ignore the flamebait mod, i know you weren't out for that. seriously interesting post, but you should have left it finished before the " i just want to say one thing " paragraph....maybe the stuff after that was slightly flamebait (although unintentional)
i love debian and kde, so what i do is boot from a knoppix cd then run
knx2hd
as root. this brings up an installer which gives you the choice of a knoppix like system or a debian like system. either way you get a kde desktop.
heh, you can even read slashdot during the install (i always do) as it runs from the desktop, how mad is that
"If you're not making them money, you're not going to get their ear"
they make that sound like a bad thing, there aren't many for profit organisations that are any different i would imagine.
it won't be as responsive on mac as on windows as it won't have access to hidden memory and processor power, so they don't want peoples ideas of IE to be sullied by....a level playing field
"The file explorer and start menu are not the desktop any more than the mac's pull-down menus were called the dektop"
to be honest with you, i just plain disagree with that, when using the file explorer you are in the desktop environment
i think this is (to use a completely unfit analogy) the same (maybe) as how the word hacker has been corrupted to the point where it means something else than it originally meant, but that would only be in your mind...i think it has and always will refer to the desktop environment the programs run in
just a difference in opinion really
"Desktops? I haven't even SEEN my windows XP desktop in months. I start programs from the start menu, and I look through my gazillions of files with File Explorer"
that is using the desktop silly, it's all a graphical environment. you must be a windows user, unaware of the ctrl+alt+function keys way of nipping out of X and just dealing with the command line.
sounds to me like you haven'tnot ever seen your desktop while using your computer
smart move all round for everyone really, who woulda thunk it.
now can we please have rid of the microsoft spyware that has been around since windows 95 that saves all your email correspondance, typed urls etc in hidden folders?
seriously, it is good to see them take this step though, shows they are thinking about system stability more seriously.
whenever i have used ATI on either windows or linux, something usually made the 3D display prone to being buggy as hell. maybe it's hardware, maybe it's thje driver, but nvidia have always been rock solid for me.
maybe this improvement will fix ATI's problems
better than if somebody typed in a track they wanted to buy then clicked on a sponsered link tyhat made them go to a webpage that made them type it in again.
also good to aggregayr the archives of more than one vendor into this saerch database, as some vendors will have songs others might not.
good for the retailers, good for us, thats a rare one

hope they don't accidentally make a new volcano
this looks good but it isn't. they will still do these terrible things, they always said they weren't doing them anyway while they were
