    maybe i could have stretched to imagining yahoo bettering google at something other than search (i'm pretty sure they farm out their search to google to some degree, although i might be wrong) but msn beating google...nah. well, it is a market research firm, not a news outlet...someone has to pay them to do this work. not that i'm suspicious of course

    redhat bought something usefull and made it open source? that's one of the most amazingly good things i've heard this week. i thought open source was all about using software made for free. it's so great to see a xcompany making a living off open source to buy something usefull the community needs and give it out for free. i'm a debian man myself, but keep up the good work redhat!

    i hate this whole rootkit debacle, but i will only boycott their cds. and believe me i have been warning all of my friends of this (shame the corals cd was one of these cds)

    however, i love my ps2 and use my eyetoy as a webcam in my windows box. that's probably safe though, as it is not how it was intended to be used.

    basically at the moment sony has joined the ranks of a certain other company, which is this; they make brilliant multimedia products and gaming hardware, but i wouldn't trust them anywhere near the internet

    thats my opninion anyway

    this kind of enter a pin number to start the car would stop a lot of car thefts probably. and maybe even drunk drivers (i know someone who had an unlock code for his phone that was ridiculously long so that he didn't make stupid calls when drunk, if he was so messed up he couldn't get it right he assumed it was a bad time to call)

    how the hell is this drm? what, are you wanting to burn the car to cd or copy it to your ipod or what? it's nothing like drm and is completely acceptable in a hire purchase agreement. if i don't pay my internet bill, they turn it off, i no longer "hire" the line from them. bad analogy but you get the idea

    i've heard there is a windows program that does the same,. i'm sure someone here will telly you, but i like gaim when i ever do use IM as it handles msn/im together. i should imagine google talk might be included in the next version of it or at some version in the future as they seem to be quite friendly towards OSS.
    oh and the worst aspect of any instant messenger is if it pops up and steals your windows focus and you end up typing half a url into a message window or whatever. best feature is integrated email delivery notification for me. would be nice to have that for gmail as well as aol/hotmail.

    as someone who is a hobbyist musician and someone who has tinkered with various audio programs (reason, audacity etc) and even occasionally had a go with real hardware, your description of a hearing aid astounds me at how badly designed they are. you have to powercycle it to stop feedback? i can't imagine why someone hasn't just put a simple volume gate that would stop this. or at the very least a volume control for the input to cycle instead of the power. i would have imagined it would be a simple task to have a gate set up to automatically do this. i strongly suggest writing to the manufacturer, maybe with a few signitures of like-minded people you may know who have first hand experience in this to try and nudge them into improving the product. unfortunately, as many big businesses have shown, if you buy their stuff and it is unreliable, they tend not to improve to much over time without considerable public response or exposure. but then again, i may be wrong and am not a hearing aid specialist...surely they would have considered all this

    this will be just like when they tried to add grandma and grandadas days to mothers and fathers days, just another excuse to try and drum up more profit. seems a bit pointless in this case though, they are both wrong and it's a growth business anyway. perhaps marketing were exceptionally bored. or maybe it was the work experience guy
