I had a couple of tabs open. One website in particular had some stuff that google thought was malicious, so it would keep asking me to go to the previous page which i would, then i would navigate to some other pages and it would happen again. after a couple of times, it took the whole browser down and gave me a popup that made it sound really surprised that it crashed.
also. the acrobat reader plugin made it hang the entire browser.
It's just the message that libpurple sends to the client (either adium or pidgin or finch or whatever) when it encounters the error code that ICQ sent which represents something like "client too old" or whatever. libpurple just decided to put the pidgim.im address in their error message.
if you don't want to download the newest version of pidgin, this bug report lists what byte you can edit in liboscar.dll (or just download the patched liboscar.dll) http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6220
That energy could be reused (since we aren't making chemical changes, only state changes) or you could use waste heat from power plants or something. 175 isn't very hot.
there are a lot of patents that VLC implements that the market generally says other people own. For the most part, the patent holders don't go after personal downloaders, however I would think that this company would have to pay for quite a few licenses if they want to sell this.
The Future
Netflix is planning HD streaming, and this box will support it. When Netflix gets HD streaming content, they'll update the box by firmware to support HD resolutions at higher bitrates of 4-6mbps, including 5.1 surround (everything is stereo now). The menus will also be upgraded to HD res, too. In the future, the Roku-branded box will be upgraded to accept non-Netflix content, too. (And btw, the update on the Mac client situation is that they're just trying to sort out the DRM issues, or lack of a suitable system they can stream to Macs on.) http://gizmodo.com/389698/first-netflix-streaming-box-review-100-and-unlimited-downloads
If Apple did try to go for this market, they'd need to cut their margins by a lot to compete with the current pc market which plays in this price range.

I really have no idea what this means, or why it is news.
Well, last time the rocket crash landed. This time the rocket blew up. Chances of ash survival are probably slim.
Your modders obviously didn't click on your link.
I should learn to actually use the preview then format my responses.
wee!
this appears to be about the same case that was reported back in april http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0404081google1.html it's hard to tell because the linked article in this slashdot story has pretty much no identifying information besides "Pennsylvania" and "private road" however, there are a couple of these roads marked as "Private Road" in Pittsburgh. I believe when I first heard about it, there were several of these roads "street view"able. this one has been taken off as well as a couple of other private roads. it's probably safe to assume it's a response to the complaint. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Oakridge+Ln,+Pittsburgh,+Allegheny,+Pennsylvania+15237,+United+States&ie=UTF8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hl=en&cd=1&geocode=0,40.575870,-80.079510&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=23.875,57.630033&ll=40.578336,-80.079153&spn=0.010593,0.021179&z=16&layer=c&cbll=40.57501,-80.077183&panoid=q8qE5vF8Oc7W2jkP4jFV9A&cbp=1,292.8765722178444,,0,5.671234277821568
well, for $200, i'm not sure how big you can make it.
This just means they all use Automated Fare Collection systems. It doesn't mean they all use the same company with the same vulnerabilities.

This is also a nonstory. The fix is just incrementing the version number on what is reported to OSCAR.
I think they're good reasons to see pennies as a good investment.
you had a cd burner in 1988?
Several hydrocarbons in crude oil are carcinogenic. It's possible that the oil that this bacteria makes could also be carcinogenic.
I'm pretty sure if I stuck some sand out in space, it'll still be sand in a year.

Honestly, that's pretty awesome.

That costs a lot of money and most places no longer have snow anymore?
Just like posting on slashdot :)
I remember that when Windows 95 came out, my local micro center had lines at the door before the store opened.
It sold out on the first day, and was also full of bugs.
I don't think you can compare Linux consumer acceptance to Win95 consumer acceptance.
Agreed. This is a very cheap box that can stream HD media over a network. If anyone can figure out how to hack it, a lot of doors could be opened.

Whoosh!
